Obviously Black Albert, or even better - Cuvee Delphine. The stouts that De Struise puts out are some of my favorite stouts period. Wish more Struise beers made it to South Florida.

Cask allagash black was one of the best beers I've ever had. Weyerbacher Tiny is generally my favorite "Belgian Stout", though really it just tastes like a great RIS.

For this one, I took a risk and aged it at room temperature (approx. 74 degrees with some variance). But I generally prefer to cellar them in my wine chiller around 55 degrees. I need to test another one that I stored at 55 degrees and compare them.

Troubadour imperial stout is very delicious.

I've been wanting to try that brew. I rarely see JK here, unless it's a surprise Keg.

Funny, I drain-poured my recent Stone Belgo-Anise Stout. Allagash Black tasted like an ashtray both times I have tried it. I had a bomber (750ml) of Jester King's Black Metal and was very glad I was at a bottle share since I didn't have to drink the rest after the first few sips.

After having three bad ones and not one good one, I gave up on this hybrid style.

However... whatever you call Black Albert, it is one of the greats.

    Of the five I recall:
SA Thirteenth Hour was pretty good
Weyerbacher Tiny was my first and I loved it
Stone Belgo Anise was good, if not very good
I seemed to like Ommegang's Take the Black better than many here
Anchorage The Darkest Hour was amazing
I could look at my reviews but I don't think I reviewed every one of them. I do remember this much.

Noir de Dottignies, Trois Pistoles and La Terrible. Unibroue in general, really. Amazing dark fruit and spice.

While all three are good, but are not Stouts. Those are BSDA (Belgian Strong Dark Ale).

Aye, I realize. However, the OP used quotes when describing the "style" Belgian "Stout". It isn't even a style to begin with, and about 70% of the beers referenced in this thread are not stouts either. Or not particularly even Belgian.

The beers I mentioned above fit the rough categorization of the general theme of the beers mentioned throughout.

If you feel it is productive to correct each post on styles in this thread, by all means.
