Hint: You're correct, those are referred to as 0.5l or 500ml bottles.

This seems to be currently be used as an excuse to over-charge for beers. Just give me a capped 12 oz bottle.

it's near perfect for aging beers, easy to store, nice seal, good amount of beer for a single sitting.

I think your cans you use now are the best format, have always loved them. Out of those choices though, #2 wins for me.

Is the Steinie the same shape used by Duvel and a few other Belgian breweries?

Are those really 12 oz or are they 330ml Belgian-style bottles?

Wicked Weed and a few other US breweries also use similar 330ml bottles:

Just voting by shape I go with the 22oz bomber. But when it comes to actually purchase a beer, it will always be my preference to go for a 12oz long-neck bottle.

I picked the shorter 12 oz because they will fit anywhere in my cellar. Several of the door shelves in the deep freeze are too short for longnecks.

As stated on the label, they are most definitely 12 oz bottles.

Yeah, except for the slight difference in volume (US steinies were 11 [west coast] or 12 oz.) they sure appear the same. Never got the story on how they wound up in Belgium since US ads at the time (mid-1930s) claimed they originated at bottle manufacturer Owens-Illinois' Pacific Coast subsidiary. Along with Stubbies, they were the glass manufacturers' answer to the shorter, throwaway cans.

Numerous brewers all over the country eventually used them, although they became "returnables" at some point (note some of the early ads tout them as "no deposit, no return" throwaways). Into the 1970s, they were still being used in Pennsylvania (where returnables were still a major factor due to the case law) by breweries like Horlacher, Ortlieb, Yuengling and Straub.

And, let us not forget Steinie's big brother, the classic Steinie Quart.

500ml. Prefer bottles over cans anyday.
Still fondly recall buying Busch pint bottles in the heavy-duty flip top cases long ago.

voted heritage because I'm such an embarrassingly craven Lagunitas/Firestone Walker/California brewery fanboy...

I use them to bottle brett saisons at home, in the (probably mistaken and certainly unresearched) belief that the glass is thicker/heavier feeling and ergo stronger than modern thin-ass feeling longnecks. I recycle all other bottles but keep all commercial heritage bottles I buy. Which are mostly Sucks or Sumpin Sumpin variants, or Double Jack, or the odd Brother Thelonius or Raspy or Narwhal...

Gotcha, are those custom for Boulevard? Sorry, I didn't originally notice the wording on the 4 pack holder in that picture.
