I've had Rare, Coffee, and regular BCBS. Rare killed it. Coffee and reg battle it out for a close 2nd depending on the mood I'm feeling.

Also, I think that 2010 was by far the best coffee (black cat espresso!), so I'm curious what coffee (and at what age) people who aren't listing the vintage had.

These beers are pretty much impossible to rank if you ask me. Fresh Coffee blows my damn mind. Rare was incredible around the 2 year mark. Cherry is drinking like gold right now. Vanilla smells like angels. Bramble was a straight up palate massage 6 months ago.

It'd be interesting to somehow do a horizontal of all the variants fresh, or at the same age.

They've brewed Coffee each of the past couple years, but 2010 was Vanilla, 2011 was Bramble, 2012 was Cherry Rye, and I'm not sure when Rare came out.

Rare was 2010. Initially, 2010 was supposed to be a big year for one-off Bourbon County variants, three intended to be made once with no plans to make it again: Coffee in March, Vanilla and Rare in either November or December. Coffee was such a huge success they decided to make it every year with a different variety of coffee. Rare and Vanilla have not been made again (and by all indications won't be).

I don't think anyone honestly expects them to make Cherry Rye or Bramble Rye again either. It's very likely we will just get a yearly one-and-done from now on. There was supposed to be a "Wheat Whiskey Bourbon County*" last year but it was never released. Rumors began in March of this year (on here, of course) of a Bourbon County Coconut Rye being bottled late 2013. Nothing confirmed by Goose Island as of yet.

*additional rumors stated this was just aged in wheat bourbon barrels, not 100% wheat whiskey, and was eventually blended into one or more of the 2012 BCBS batches

    So, listen. Seriously.

Go buy a french press. Then, toast some coconut, slice up about 1/5th of a vanilla bean, and add in some chili peppers. Let it sit for three hours. Press.

    Pour.

Best variant ever, and it was only like $3!

Im in the minority I know but Im not a big fan of Coffee and regular BCS. Ive had a few older vintages of BCS that were more pleasant but still overrated IMO.

I've had the Cherry Rye, Coffee and 2012 regular. The Coffee was decadent, but the Cherry Rye was divine.

Rare for me, but drank it almost 2 years ago. Can't imagine it's improving much as I feel the 2008 vintage is currently past it's prime.

'11 Coffee is my favorite ever, this year's coffee was great too but '11 was incredible. Followed by Bramble, Rare, then regular. Have not had vanilla or Cherry Rye yet.

Rare was honestly a little disappointing based on all that I'd heard.
