What is your top 3 Black IPAs?

I did a blind tasting of black IPAs a couple of years ago, and Back In Black emerged as a surprise winner. No imperials were included, however, so a reevaluation might see Mountain Standard or Blakkr at the top. But this one is solid.

1. [Without a doubt] Stone 15th Anniversary Escondidian Imperial Black IPA.
2. Fresh Wookey Jack
3. Lagunitas Night-time ale

I had Night-time ale vs Wookey Jack last night and although night-time ale was fresher and gave out a the better nose, wookey Jack had a smoother finish and came back to win in the long-run. Still night-time is an awesome beer at less than $5.00 a bomber!!

 

This is one of the hardest styles to judge cuz you really have to drink them as fresh as possible before the roasted flavors take over the hops. So it's no surprise to me that my favorite ones (Founders Inspired Artist, NightTime) have also been the freshest ones.

I actually haven't had many more black IPAs than those three. Southern Tier Iniquity isn't bad I thought either.

 

Loving Lagunitas Night Time right now. Also think Rj Rockers Black Pearl was very good. Local favorite is Two Roads Route of all Evil.

Sorry I'm late, had a bit of trouble finding parking... I'm inclined to mark down anyone who actually does have black and pale in the same name, and plus points to those who go for IBA or such. Problem is, I think I like 'em anyway. Actually I could use the guidance for whose to look for, actually. (Not many made it to Belgium yet but I really dug http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16320/92143/, one of the better new arrivals on the scene of late)

You may now carry on, espousing oxymorons at will... Anyone have a light stout (gawd that sounds awful) or maybe an Ambien coffee porter?
