Some friends of mine brought me some Kuhnhenn beer, and one of them was unlabeled. They said it was a raspberry beer, maybe a Raspberry Eisbock. I'm not sure what it really is though. Does anyone recognize what beer this is? It is a different bottle than the "normal" 12 oz bottles and I included a picture that shows what it looks like held up to the light.

Probably the rasberry eisbock, it comes in a 12.7 oz bottle so that seems about right size wise. Also doesn't surprise me its not labeled since kuhnhenn isn't exactly known to be most organized sometimes.

Can't say for sure if all of them were, but the Raspberry Eisbock bottle I got was dipped in red wax. It could be one of the million meads they have released this month.

I know someone who got KRE bottles not too long ago that weren't waxed. They may have just forgotten to wax the bottles shown above.

Was gonna mention that you mentioned that. Seriously, just crack the sum'bitch open OP. I'd imagine it is just the eisbock.

Thanks for the info everyone, I'll assume it is either a mead or an eisbock and open it up with some friends.

I bought a raspberry eisbock without wax, they told me that they had several cases without labels as well. If someone really didn't care they could've bought one without a label / wax. If they paid $30 chances are it was rasp eisbock, if they paid less it's probably mead.

This bottle would not have been sold as a single without a label, therefore, it was part of a case or partial case which likely means it's a Raspberry Eisbock since Blueberry were sold in singles only at the Eisbock release, and although the Blueberry was not waxed it's not likely the label fell off after the sale.

Agreed. When it was purchased might also be informative...

Pretty sure this is from when they switched from bottling KRE to KBE. Raspberry-Blueberry Eisbock mix.

That would be pretty cool. I'm hoping to try it this weekend, I'll report back.

So I opened it last night. Definitely seems to be the Raspberry Eisbock. Reminds me of a much more intense version of the New Glarus Raspberry Tart.
