Different people will likely have different answers as to what beers qualify as being whales or not. Don't get too hung up on this kind of stuff. Just drink good beer that you enjoy. I've certainly had some beers that are widely considered to be pretty exclusive that I wasn't all that impressed by, and I've had some damn good ones too.

We can debate what is and isn't a whale till the cows come home, but one thing a "whale" in the beer world ISN'T, is a beer that you can't roll into Total Wine or Binny's or whatever and pluck off the shelf...a beer you might just have to consider getting a fedex account and trading for...having to make SOME effort doesn't make it a whale.

KBS and Pliny aren't whales, to anyone. At least not in America. If you think you'll never try Pliny just make a post in the ISO/FT forum: ISO: Pliny, FT: you tell me. You'll probably get multiple generous souls offering to hook you up.

If you haven't please read Moby Dick. That's what is meant, but with beer. Oh man I have to get some bubble wrap and spend 12 dollars on shipping doesn't mean whale.

If you PM me as soon as I make a posting on the For Trade thread, then it must be a whale. And vise versa of course!

That you can never have it and then you build it up into your mind so long that you trade half your cellar away and realize it's not any better than a similar beer you can pick up from the shelf in your local beer store :stuck_out_tongue::grinning:
