I will be there for a long weekend the third week of October. I plan on visiting Total Wine. Anywhere else I need to visit?

Hop & Wine Shop is another bottle shop in the area. Just a couple miles from TW.There's also a World Market that has a nice selection of bottles.

I'm guessing you have the breweries down since you did not ask about those (Adventure, Blue & Gray, Maltese, Spencer Devon, Wild Run)

Capital Ale House is a good restaurant that just re-opened after a fire a couple months ago as well. They have a good 50+ beers on tap.

Im driving down to Fredericksburg for the weekend today and have read about all the breweries you mentioned. Any specific recommendations regarding them on best beers, what styles they do, etc... any info really. Excited about cap ale, food menu looks great and I'm always excited to see a tap list out of my general area.

Also to add; any rec's on bottles/breweries to look for at the store, I know the big names and what not just don't want to pass on some local gems if they are there.

    I'm a couple hours away from F'Burg so do not know exactly what is available up there in that area but a few to maybe consider if you see them are;
    AleWerks - Secret Admirer (DIPA) - 750ml I believe
    AleWerks - Pumpkin Ale - 12oz bottles
Reaver Beach Brewing - Hoptopus (DIPA) - 16oz cans
Parkway Brewing - Get Bent (DIPA) - 12oz bottles
Blue Mountain Barrel House - Dark Hollow (Imperial Stout) 750ml
Hardywood - Great Return (West Coast Style IPA) - 16oz cans
    Hardywood - Farnhouse Pumpkin - 750ml
Brothers Craft Brewing - The Admiral (DIPA) 12oz bottles
Lickinghole Creek - Bourbon Barrel Tripel - 750ml
AleSmith - Speedway Stout (may still find these hanging around as well as other stuff from AleSmith)
FW - Velvet Merkin (also arrived at shops earlier this week)
Three Notch'd - The Ghost of the 43rd (APA) - 12oz cans just released this week. Should hit distro this week...

Not too sure about the beers the breweries have. Have not been able to make the trip yet but I have heard Expedition IPA by Adventure is pretty solid.

    Good luck and safe travels!

Sounds like some good beer recommendations. Good luck. Also, I spent some years in Richmond and we visited Mary Washington College often- now University of Mary Washington- located in Fredericksburg. The University of Richmond boys and the Mary Washington girls got along very well! Located very close by is Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, a major Civil War battle location that is well worth going to see. We usually saw it at night, but did make day trips as well.

O.P. here. Looking for some Velvet Merkin when I am down there in a few weeks. Any chance anybody would like to do an IP trade for anything from Ohio??

If you are looking for a trade you may want to check out the fb groups "RVA Beer Tastes & Trades" and "NOVA Beer-Elite" and ask this question. Just be sure to clarify that you will be in F'Burg so they know where you will be for IP. I am not familiar with breweries in OH but know those people love Jackie O's and Fat Heads when it comes available.
