I have some friends that will be traveling to kalamazoo in two weeks and need some advice on what to have them pick up. Suggestions on what should be available?

Anything from Short's. Especially if there's any Freedom of '78 still around.

Two Hearted. They can pick up whatever else is suggested/recommended by others. But if they don't get you some Two Hearted Ale, they aren't your friends.

Short's Anniversary Ale & Short's Freedom of '78 are special ones that are out right now, both excellent.
Short's - All of their regular line up is pretty good, huma lupa licious is really good
Founders - Curmudgeon's Old Ale (Specialty) and you might be able to still find Imperial Stout and Double Trouble.
Kuhnhenn - anything, especially if you can find 4D.
Bells - anything (oberon is there seasonal right now)

Are these 6 packs? How much do they cost? Any good bombers I need?

Anything form Shorts, Anything from Founders, Anything from Bells.

What my recommendation from Shorts is ControversiALE, Huma Lupa Licious (delicious IPA), or the Golden Rule.

What my recommendation from Bells is Oberon (their summer beer), Two Hearted Ale (delicious IPA), Hell Hath No Fury Ale (English Ale which is good), and if you can find it, which it is really rare, Hopslam, one of the best double IPA's out there. If you like Stouts, which I don't, try Expedition Stout.

From Founders, try Double Trouble (Great Double IPA), Breakfast Stout, Red Rye, anything really.

Other local beers that I find delicious are: New Hollands Dragons Milk, Arcadias Whitsun, Arcadias Hopmouth, Motor City Brew Works Ghettoblaster, Atwater Grand Circus IPA, Atwater Vanilla Java Porter, etc, etc.

Just giving you a quick run down

Oberon six packs are usually cheap, like 7.99 or 8.99

    Shorts are all 6 packs
Founders specialty are 4 packs, regular are 6 packs
Kuhnhenn will most likely find as single 12oz (possibly a 4pack). Around $6-7 for each bottle.
    Bells - 6 packs

The 4 and 6 packs mentioned are like $9-12 depending on the beer. Since you mentioned bombers, ones that come to mind that i should have mentioned before is beers from Jolly Pumpkin. That is if you like sours:

    Bier De Mars (Specialty, $13)
    IO Sasion (Specialty, $13)
    La Roja (Regular, $10)

I'd be quite surprised if they could find any Kuhnhenn, especially over in Kalamazoo. Still worth looking, though

I second the Short's suggestions, and if you can't get Founders and Bell's (I gather you're in Colorado, so you can't), definitely ask for plenty of those

If they are in Kalamazoo, they need to swing by Bell's and see what bombers they have at the general store. Last time I was there, I grabbed a Wild One and Harvest.

I will second a few others: Short's Freedom of '78, Huma, Anniversary; Founders: Old Curmudgeon, Double Trouble, Porter.

Jolly Pumpkin is pretty awesome, but not for everyone. I happen to love them.

It's worth the drive to Founders in Grand Rapids. Maybe they can grab you a growler.

    Good luck.

all of the above, and if they are in k-zoo, they are close(ish) to Greenbush, and I'll suggest anything from them. They may even be available in some of the stores in k-zoo, though I'm not sure what their distribution range is.

    No Kuhnhenn in Kzoo.
I also recommend anything from Dark Horse, esp Crooked Tree and Reserve Black; also Dragonmead, esp Final Absolution; and anything from New Holland

I'll suggest Arcadia's Bourbon Barrel Shipwreck Porter (if any is left anywhere), and Arcadia just released their DIPA for the first time in bottles, called B-Craft. Shipwreck is single bottles in 12 oz, and B-Craft is 12 oz in 4-packs.

Haven't seen a shipwreck on the shelf in a while, but I highly recommend trying it if you can. I picked up a pack of the B-Craft Black Double IPA, also very good.

As far as Shorts, I don't drink it, seems to be marginal at best to me.

Anything from Dark Horse. Go to Tiffany's for a killer selection of beers. I was part of the Better Beer Authtority road trip to Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids area list weekend. So much good beer in the area.

Thank you for all the suggestions. With all these being said, I've been told I can only have them get me four different kinds. Which four should I get (that could all be found in one store)? Around $50 to $60 budget... Also I found out they'll be staying in Three Rivers MI if that makes a difference.
