Hello- I just thought it would be fun to get some suggestions. Having a small get together for some friends who like beer the day before our annual christmas get together! I am planning on serving a bunch of beers for tasting and not sure what to serve food wise. I just started collecting so my collection of beer is limited but it is such a fun idea. ANyone else have tastings planned at home and what types of food do you service with dark beers. Share your list of you next tasting. Here is mine. Now that I typed it out maybe that is too much beer to sample for 5 people.

    BOURBON BARREL STOUT
    HEADLESS HERON
    LA PETITE MORT
    CHOCOLATE RYE

    BACKWOODS BASTARD-14

With all of those stouts I don't think I would be able to sit down and have a full meal, though I normally serve hearty dishes, like beef stew, with dark/thick beers. Here I would stick with snack-able, less formal foods like smoked pulled-pork sliders with a few relishes such as gherkins, and maybe some chips and dip (hot artichoke dip?). Just a few ideas.

I agree with @marticusrex that finger foods might be better suited with such an array of heavy beers. I would also consider adding some nice cheeses to the mix. Smoked cheeses, sharp cheeses are always nice in my opinion, others may think differently.

Pickled things. Things with mustard spread on them. Cheeses that border on stinky, and meat in appetizer sizes.
    Or, Dessert.

Man, that is a lot of strong beer for five people! A damn fine list though.

I held a small tasting at a party last night. Nobody there was very familiar with good beer so I wanted to present some variety. Only five people really sampled everything and I still had some left over as we were pretty buzzed up. This is what I brought:

    Coop Native Amber (2)
    Coop Elevator Hefeweisen (2)
    Prairie Ale (2)
    Founders All Day IPA (3)
    SN Celebration (2)
    Chimay Grande Reserve (1)
    Boulevard Bourbon Barrel Quad (1)
    Prairie Bible Belt (3)
Guinness Blonde (1 to demo a poor beer for comparison)

The hits were Elevator, All Day, Chimay, BBQ, and Bible Belt. They couldn't believe how good beer could be. They had lots of questions, so they learned quite a bit. It was really fun. I wish I could make a career out of it.

There was a ton of food there. My Mexican spinach dip was the first and only thing to be completely devoured. It's easy to make. I can send you the recipe if you like. Cocktail meatballs and subs are always great with beer.

On your cheese list be sure and include a lot of Blue vein cheese as it goes great with stouts. Some sharp Cheddar might be nice as well.

Also be sure you have plenty of glassware so people can do both more than one beer side by side and have lots of water as well as the beer.

BTW, you'll want to lay in about a dozen bottle stoppers. I doubt the five of you will empty all those bottles and it would be a shame to have the part bottles go to waste or lose all carbonation before you get around to finishing them off.

I personally don't recommend having food with your beer, it will alter the taste. Try some palate cleansers in between perhaps? Being said though, ultimate food beer: Rodenbach Grand Cru

I feel like most all of the beers OP listed would be best on their own or if anything with dessert type items
