Thinking about trading trends and what they tell us about the Direction beer is headed in the us I got curious about what most people are trading after these days. Has your target changed over time? New styles on your horizon?

It’s been looking for mostly lambic ever since I started trading on BA. While we have decent lambic distro in the Bay Area, I’ve always been looking for more. I’ve also consistently sought out stouts, barley wine, saisons, and American wilds, but not as much as lambic. Kellerbier is probably my favorite style but strangely enough I don’t know if I’ve ever put out an ISO. Maybe for the future! Love the topic OP!

I used to buy dark beer and trade mostly for Lambic/Wild Ale when I lived in Michigan, but now I live close to good sour beer with few of my favorite big dark beers.

I’ll trade for just about anything, but I tend to lean towards BA stouts with Lambic and Sour beers a very close second.

As an observer on this topic, it seems that Lambic is much more mainstream trading now than it was 3-4 years ago.

It’s probably pretty close between IPA’s and stouts for me. I don’t LOVE my IPA options in Florida so I like to trade for Monkish/other half and similar beers. Stouts I’m just trying to trade up for hard to find bottles

Some of my bigger recent trades have started like this.... Hey, I am visiting Boston from Europe and can bring lambic... Usually, those dudes have wanted NEIPAs from heavy hitters from New England and/or HF bottles. I don't want to ship overseas, but am happy to oblige visitors and knock on wood... the trades have always worked out.

Thankfully, I am content with most of the BA stouts I can get here in MA. Trying to decipher acronyms for stouts is too much for me to handle!
