I went to WTF two years ago, which was the infamously "bad" year for this festival, and still had a great time and enjoyed many excellent beers. Now that they've moved the festival back to the Wednesday of GABF week, I'm considering going again. From their website, it looks like tickets will be $100 and there will be no VIP hour. They've moved the festival location from a place downtown that looked really small, to a place in Overland that still looks pretty small... Anyone know anything else about the festival, from the location to when tickets will go on sale? Anyone else going back? I think the general consensus was that last year's festival went off pretty well...

Well, I know that area has seen some changes lately. And it's right off the light rail. Declaration Brewing and Bear Creek Distillery are just down the street. As far as size, I hope it's small. When tastings get too big they run the risk of collapsing under the pressure (2 years ago).
One reason why I'm skipping Rare Beer is because of the VIP set up. Not a fan of those.

I'm going. Tickets on sale tomorrow at 10am mountain time. Last year was run very well; had a great time. Little to no lines for most of the breweries there. Night and day from 2 years ago. New venue looks nice. Brewery list this year looks even better than last year. Also like that it's Wednesday this year so I don't have to come a day earlier to make this.

Thanks for the scoop on the ticket sale! I'm probably going to go too. The brewery list is solid but definitely smaller than in years past (maybe not last year, which I didn't attend). If that helps them manage the fest better...well, OK. But I would love to see a few more breweries on that list that I've never heard of.

Rare Beer Fest's VIP set up runs incredibly well and is well worth the money. I can understand not wanting to pay more or setting up a system where people with more money to spend can get better benefits, but it's all for charity so I'm willing to accept that.

The VIP at WTF two years ago didn't work nearly as well, so I can understand why they got rid of it here.

What I would love is for them to go back to the location, size and format they had 3 years ago at the EXDO event center. That was a great fest with lots of space and lots of participating breweries if I recall...

EXDO = a successful and fun WTF, every single time. Why they decided to take another crack at using a different/smaller venue again is beyond me, can't help but have flashbacks of the 2015 fiasco hearing that news. The solution to avoid that is quite simple though: Do not oversell the damn thing...:rage:

Not sure, is EXDO in the middle of all that construction going on over yonder?

There's going to be a sour beer event that same night at Goed Zuur so consider that if you aren't into the big crowds. Should be much more mellow.

Don't know much details yet, but they are gathering barrel-aged sours for an event on 10/4. Keep an eye out for this.

It was my understanding that WTF this year was being limited to CSA only breweries to showcase their own brands, and so some alternate events were being planned at the same time to include breweries who weren't invited. That said, it looks like they added some Shelton brands as well to bulk up the list a bit.

The best thing about WTF is their kick-ass advertising campaign.

The quieter the better as far as I'm concerned. If that means shorter lines for beer and a more relaxed fest. Just hope it's not so quiet that the event gets cancelled due to lack of ticket sales.

How many tickets are available for this? Trying to scope the venue details and it seems like its super small. 4000 sq feet? This is giving me flashbacks to the disaster that was 2015. I can't imagine they are limiting this to 400-500 people.

Plus the rumors of the scaling back...I'm really regretting changing my plans to fly in a day early and buying this ticket.

Last year was a small venue also and it was run well. Never got the feeling it was crowded at all. Looks like this venue is about 7,700 sq ft with both buildings. No details on number of tickets sold or total number of tickets released.

Got my ticket for this event, I went to the 1st WTF and it was radical. Spent most of the night drinking Jolly Pumpkin Biere de Mars Grand Reserve all by myself, no lines, just plenty of elbow room and a full snifter.

    Did this year sale out?

I was curious about total # of tickets.

Hoping for an event run just like last year and not the nightmare of 2 years ago...I guess we'll see.
