Thanks. Ft Collins looks a lot easier so I will just pick one. We'll probably end up renting a car as well, but thanks for the Light Rail suggestion. I am still reading up on all the local nuances. Going to be a great trip.

Don't forget you can now add Echo Brewing Co to that outside-Denver-list. They're up in Frederick. Grand opening was last Saturday. I drove by, but the crowd was HUGE, so I passed and went to the Monk, which had Pliny and Sanctification on tap

It's been 5 weeks since Pliny was last here, decent chance it could hit this week. The guys here who work in a bottle shop might know if it's coming.

    Some guy asked about a Sticky in the feedback section this is the response he got. If your thinking huh, I'm with you. But the thread of course in typical fashion was locked after;

    This is what Todd wrote
Nope, because it would be a biased list of places (based on whatever you define as conventional wisdom) vs. a list based on ratings from the community ... and we'd be forced to allow/maintain biased lists for every single major city.

So here is a recap of our trip:

    Day 1 - Fort Collins.
Hotel: Best Western Kiva. Not the worst. Was a pretty good bargain.
    Bars/Brewpubs:
    1. Mayor of Old Town - Freakishly great place. The bartender (Hillary) was really helpful. Will be back.
    2. Equinox Brewing - Nice little place with a great array of brews on tap. Bonus: Firkin of Apex! Will be back.
    3. Odell Brewing - Decent place. Beers are OK. They kicked us out at 6pm though, so be aware, tourists!

    Day 2 - Ft Collins/Boulder
Hotel: Best Western Golden Buff Lodge. Nice place, big room. The free breakfast is insanely fantastic!
    Bars/Brewpubs:
    1. New Belgium - Must stop for anyone. A load of fun and awesome beers. Next time, I go here for a half day.
    2. Ft Collins/Gravity Ten Twenty - Good brews and really good food. Perfect lunch/beer stop.
    3. Oskar Blues/Tasty Weasel - Oskar Blues brews and Skee-Ball! Nice, open venue. Whiskey Barrel Chub was great!
    4. Left Hand - A nice place, but nothing crazy on tap. Pretty standard stuff I can get in PA.
    5. Avery Brewing - Great place. Packed (Friday Night). Plenty of great brews on tap and friendly people. Loved it.
    6. Twisted Pine - More "rustic" than previous stops. Billy's Chilies was great (spicy!).

    Day 3 - Boulder/Denver
Hotel - Marriott City Center (My buddy had points so it was free).
Bonus stop leaving Boulder: Hazel's Beverage World. HUGE beer/liquor store!
    Bars/Brewpubs:
    1. Southern Sun - I LOVED this place. The beers were great and the atmosphere was really nice. We were early so we got to drive up into the mountains a bit.
    2. C.B. & Potts - More of a sports bar with some decent/average brews on tap. Place is big. Pretty good place to watch a game and get some micros.
    3. Great Divide - Right across from Coors Field. Had a blast here. The beers are great and the vibe is laid back and fun. Going to a game? Pre-game here.
    4. Breckenridge - Around the block from Great Divide. Another fun ballgame hangout. Huge place with tons on tap and a good menu.
    5. Falling Rock Taphouse - Great tap list (Pliny!) and another laid-back vibe location. Pretty much a must-stop.
    6. Freshcraft - Stopped in for one (chasing badges on Untappd). Quieter than previous stops, but really nice.
    7. Euclid Hall - Another badge chasing operation. Neat place, bartender was a little snooty, but oh well.

    Day 4 - Airport
    Bars/Brewpubs:
    1. New Belgium - Grabbed lunch and one beer. Service was SLOOOOWW. If you can't get a bar seat, go elsewhere.
    2. Rock Bottom - Right by my gate. Met nice people. Decent brews on tap. Nice place to wait to board.

I enjoyed this trip thoroughly. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful in the area and most places are top-notch. One thing about Denver city...we walked everywhere, which was very nice. If you're hitting Ft. Collins, be very aware that right now some of the main streets are torn up and there are very few ways to cross over some streets. Our walk from the car to Mayor of Old Town to Equinox was a major pain in the ass. Ask ahead.

I'll be back to hopefully hit some more places. Thanks for all the pre-trip info and thanks for being such great hosts!

Nice. We should probably try and keep this thread on the first page if we can. If nothing else, it's a good reference point for GABF travelers, and it refers to a few other similar threads in it, too.

Sounds like a great trip. For future trips, I'd also recommend two certain restaurants for combo of awesome food and beer selection: In Fort Collins: Choice City Butcher & Deli. In west Denver: Hops & Pie.

Getting this back on the front page for potential GABFers.
