My brother in law moved to Houston and wants to mail me a box of beer I cant get here in Wisconsin. Can I have some suggestions for beers he should get/look for? I'm looking for rare limited release beers to beers you can get any day of the week. thanks for your help Cheers.
Rare, limited release beers you can get any day of the week That would defeat the purpose of them being rare and limited........also, those beers don't last long in Texas. See the latest release of SA Pumpkinator. There are plenty of good beers in Houston, native to Texas that are not rare or limited. I wouldn't just limit yourself to rare and/or limited releases. You'll be waiting for a box for a long time.
I said from rare and limited TO beers you can get any day of the week. He's not much of a beer guy so I want to tell him exactly to look for. thanks for the response
You expect someone who does not know beer to know where to go and when to find limited and hard to find beer? Or you can ask for some regular TX beers that you have not had so it is easy for him to find.
ok remove the words rare.. how bout some quality beer you can only get in that area??. if I were asked this question here in Wisconsin i'd say try some new glarus spotted cow or look for central waters brewers reserve. I just wanted some suggestions, if he cant find them that's my problem. thanks for being so helpful guys
No problem! On another note, anything from the regular line ups from Karbach, Saint Arnold, Jester King, Community, Martin House (don't know if they make it to Houston or not), Real Ale, Independence, No Label, Southern Star, or Lakewood just to name a few. Do a search on BA on those breweries and I'm sure you'll find some specific beers you'll want to try. There are just too many good ones to list on here, best idea, try them all!
Ranger Creek Small Batch 11 & Purple Rhine Jester King Dichotomous (any version)...anything from Jester King actually Freetail Rye Wit Saint Arnold Pumpkinator Real Ale Three Lions, Black Quad and Real Heavy Oasis Meta-Modern Session IPA (must get this) I'm sure there is more, but this is what comes to mind that I'd get. You can't expect to come into the southwest forum asking for help and not hear about how big of an idiot you are. They're a cheeky bunch. They'll kill you on punctuation too.
Tell him to go to D&Q on Thursday afternoon (typically when they get fresh Yellow Rose delivered), and get several bombers of that.
Pretty much agree with everything above, my suggestion: Have him hit up Nasa Liquors/Oak Barrel Beer Exchange/Specs on Bay Area and "Nobi" Shell SE of town they're all about 5-10 min away from each other and make a nice beer run loop.
Valero at Elgin & Main If the worker pretends like he's not hiding whalez, just keep insisting. Eventually he will reveal the stash.
You should assume in the loop of Houston when he says Houston. This is really far for someone to drive for bottle shops but those are great places to visit if you're in Clear Lake or on your way to Galveston.
I sent him a list and hes out trying to find them, he will ship my box by Christmas. thanks again guys
