~17, it was either Anderson Valley's Oatmeal Stout or MadRiver Steelhead Extra Pale Ale… I think. That was a long time ago

Surly Furious will always be special to me. Not only was it my first craft beer, it was my first beer ever. I've been in love with this world ever since.

Baderbrau, Berghoff, and some GI and Sam Adams beers in the 80's, but didn't get really in to it until the last 7-8 years or so when I turned the corner from wine into beer!

I'm not sure I would call them craft beers now, but I had NB Fat Tire and Stella with my dad at 18. If those are too big for craft beer, my first american craft beer would be Santa Fe Nutt Brown or Rogue Dead Guy.

Shortly after my 21st birthday, I went to a bar and had Founders Porter and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Rest is history.

It was either SNPA or Pete's Wicked Strawberry Blonde.

SNPA broke my tastebuds the first time I tried it, but I have fond memories of Pete's. It reminds me of taking the train into NYC to see the Dead with my brother and his friends because uh... that's where we drank them; Central Park too. It was a sloppy day all around, but at least the plain-clothes NYPD officers who caught us smoking a joint at Strawberry Fields were cool. :grinning:

Hard to say. Likely DFH 60min, but possibly something from Mass where I went to school, such as BBC, ABC, or Paper City. Could be Pete's Wicked.

Didn't know it at the time, late 80's but Pilsner Urquell.

Or, do folks consider this a "craft beer" ?

I can remember me and some friends raiding one of their dad's bar back in high school (probably close to 30 years ago). One of the beers we tried was Anchor Steam. Carlsberg Elephant Beer was another.

I can remember these because of all of those we tried, these were our two favorites.

Founder's Breakfast Stout. Was a Guinness guy in college but one day my go-to liquor store was charging more for Guinness bottles than a "build your own 6 pack" of craft beer. So being the broke college student i went the cheaper route and snagged styles i thought i might enjoy. After my second sip of Breakfast Stout I was hooked and never looked back. A whole new world of awesome opened up before my eyes that fateful day

Uncle Jacobs stout and I absolutely hated it. Now, I can't get my hands on enough. Go figure.
