@Dirtyhands I am assuming that you like myself are from PA where Getting beer that isn't in a case is harder than finding a left handed leprechaun in a field of four leaf clovers. Any way I'm off topic. I remember my first real case of beer that I bought, still keep my home brew in it, was flying dog classic pale ale.

My first case was probably Shock Top, which was also my 'gateway' beer. I don't know if you can count it as a craft beer anymore, it's pretty widely produced now. The only beer I buy by the case now, is the good ole silver bullets. Go to cheap beer.

Summit Extra Pale Ale? Nah, they were technically I microbrewery, back then. August Schell Dooppelbock? Nah, they were still using adjunct in their flagship. Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA 750 mL? Yeah, that's the ticket! 2003, boyeee!

Probably something from Millstream back in college circa 2001. How the hell did I afford that?

Never bought more than a 12 pack of craft. I only buy cases when I'm expecting guests to drink a lot of it in which case I usually buy something cheap like Pabst or High Life.

Stone Smoked Porter, back before it was available everywhere all around me. That was my first true gateway beer - the first one I actively sought out after I tried it the first time. That case was the best $50 I ever spent.

Mendocino's Imperial Stout, was on sale at a DEPs liqour for 20 bucks. they think its old beer, i think they cellared it for me.

(side note- it was a very rough drinking a 10% imperial stout in the humid KY/OH Summer) :grinning:

I've never bought more than a 12 pack of any one craft beer. Even when I'm in a mood where I only want to drink one specific beer for a couple weeks, a dozen of them usually does the trick. Even stuff I want to age, I'll just grab 3 - 4 bottles, or a 6 pack.

Now, if the question turns into "when was the first time you bought well over a case worth of various craft beers in one trip to one store"...different story!
