Fortunately or not, Pliny the Elder was the first IPA I tried, and I found it to be revelatory.

Sometimes I wish I never had come across it, though. I spent a lot less time thinking about beer when all I knew was Harp lager.

Dogfish 90 got me interested into IPA's

Racer 5, Smutty Finestkind and Loose Cannon. And not technically an IPA, but Arrogant Bastard really got me into hoppy beers.

with hoppy beer it gotta be lord cheddy. To shows that no all yuengling is lager. But with actual IPAs, I think it was summit IPA, SNPA or troegs IPA.

Dead Horse IPA, circa 1995-1996. Back in the day, Ray McNeill had it dialed in. Ray did more to hone my local & fresh beer obsession than I think just about anyone else.

March 2014. Stone Go To IPA. Not only was that my gateway IPA, it was my gateway to HOPS.
