Are you unfamiliar with the concept of different states having different regulations, and many states not having the same regulations...?

Ugh... another "Beer Costs Too Much!" thread... This is like people logging on to PorchseAdvocate.com and gripping how expensive a 911 GT2 is.

I've purchased beer from $5/case to $35/12oz bottle. Look, beer is no different than any other product. The cost runs the gamut. Buy what you can afford. Simple life lesson.

Beer purchasing will remain something I enjoy, even if there are $34 bottles of Deus on the shelf. There are also $9 six packs of Uinta Hop Nosh and SN Torpedo, so I am good leaving my calculator at home.

That is definitely not the average price of craft now.

I thought we went over the bombers are a rip-off/ no they are not! thing a while ago. I just read a a BA post telling people not to buy Lawson's Finest at $7.99 a bomber feeling they were overpriced. To each their own.

sometimes. depends on the shoes. handmade leather shoes made in italy probably cost more than 10x cheap shoes made in china to produce. OTOH nikes made in china vs. bobos made in china probably cost about the same to produce

I've noticed that even 'shelf' beers have been creeping up in price lately. I think that is a by product of some of these special releases being priced out of the sky. Yes, bombers are a rip-off for the most part, but sometimes that is the only format you will be able to try a beer.
Just gotta have limits, man. Everyone has their budget for luxuries in life like travel, clothes, beer etc. If I think a beer is too expensive, I just leave it on the shelf, there are still values out there as far as craft/import goes.
I will say this, though, my local store just jacked up the prices on some of their beers by about 30%. If that trend continues, I'm done giving them my business

Everywhere that ever did it still does. If you buy any beverage with national distribution it lists the states with deposits on the bottle. ME, MA, VT, CT, NY, DE, IA, OR 5 cents, MI 10 cents

Why a 6 pack? You can immediately see that a $15 500ml is nearly $1 per ounce (aka very expensive) no conversion to 6-pack equivalents required.

This thread is why I don't drink sours. If I could afford them I think it would fun to explore them. The few I've tried were interesting, but at over a dollar an ounce I have to limit it. I don't have a problem with the pricing, I just can't afford it. No different than wine pricing (low end of wine pricing) really and considering the aging that goes into producing them, it seems about right.

I read this whole thread and there's still no mention of what the $15 500ml bottle was? Or if it was even any good???

I turned away from a fresh 4 pack of Headhunter yesterday because it was 13 bucks. Then I thought later, "If it were a 6.50 bomber of Headhunter I would have jumped on it". Basically, bombers are a total rip off.

I pretty much only buy CCB 750's, VAS, and Enjoy by bombers anymore.

Off topic, What the fuck is up with the price of bacon doubling?

    re: Deposit on beer bottles
All 50 states (+DC) once had deposits on so-called refillable/returnable beer bottles - bottles that were returned to breweries, washed and re-used multiple times. "Throw-away" bottles only began outselling returnables around 1970.

A distinction should be made between those now-obsolete "deposit bottles" and the various states' Mandatory Deposit Law bottles, which are more anti-litter and recycling measures - very few of those bottles are re-used today (unlike in the 1970s>1980s when those laws first began).
