Right. So we avoided a "hey guys, I like these sours. name your top five" thread. Rather the bumper of the dead went deep, real damn deep and said "hey these are solid" (and he was right). Subsequently those ignoring the date of the OP enjoyed discussing same. I personally find it interesting to see newer thoughts on an old thread. Change is so rapid in this craft world, no?

Or just trade with me. I send out Russian River, Sara and Rare Barrel at $4$ all the time.
There are still sane traders here.

If you can get them, Rivertown out of Cincinnati, OH is unknown and, I believe, usually completely underrated from people that do know them (local people usually don't have much experience with sours to compare them with). Their Lambic is a very solid example of a straight unblended lambic (I mean, it did get a 94 in BA Magazine). Ojos Negros is that aged on blackberries. I've had it and Upland Blackberry side by side...Rivertown was MUCH better in my opinion. Not as sour, but much more complex. It's characteristic of what I think a blackberry lambic from Belgium would be like; more balanced than some American sours. The have Old Sour Cherry Porter. It's an imperial porter (not robust) aged with lacto on sour cherries. One of my favorite examples of a dark (i.e. porter/stout) sour. They also release a geuze. I'll refrain from commenting on that, as I've only had 1 bottle of 2011 and 2012 in the years they were released (2012 and 2013 respectively), so it's been a while since I've had it. Then they have Divergent, which is now one of the best Berlinerweisses I've had. Soulless is a Flanders Red. Not the best example of the style, but a very solid example. The best part...Divergent and Soulless are year round for $8.99 a sixer.

Love Rivertown. A fellow BA traded and he sent a lambic, I think it was 2013. It was delicious. I second Rivertown.
