No brewing for me. Headed to the farm today to meet with the owner and see if he is down to do the updates and build outs I need for the brewery. Also taking pilot batches to a bottle share in Portland tomorrow with a group of BAs. I will keg and dryhop my IPAs sometime this weekend or early next week. Need to bottle some of the Saisons to see how they develop overtime in a warm place.

Not brewing, just dry hopping 5 gallons of an American IPA I have setting in secondary. It's 5 gallon sibling is currently setting in a keg and tasting great. Pilsner malt base with some Munich, lots of late hop additions of Citra, Centennial, and Mosaic.

Not brewing until the 20th (my birthday treat to myself)...planning on either a first stab either a parti-gyled Ten FIDY clone/sweet stout or the Great Whirlpool experiment. Need to get to a brew shop thought to stock up for either...

In the meantime, just found out my ex-wife never polished off our old beer cellar. I've got homebrewed RIS's plus commercial belgian, barleywines & imperial stouts dating back to '06, though most are '08-'10, that I just picked up. Will be interesting to see what's still drinking well...

Finally picked up the parts to rack via co2. Kegging an IPA & Pale Ale tonight (hopefully). When people talk about purging their dry hops what do they mean? I assume just putting the hops in the keg and purging the entire thing or something else?
    thanks

That's all I do. I do it from below by pushing CO2 through the liquid out tube to ensure that the whole keg is purged. One huge pointer: AFTER PURGING, LET THE CO2 PRESSURE OUT BEFORE ATTACHING YOUR RACKING DEVICE TO THE FERMENTER! If you have 40psi in that keg and hook the liquid line from the racking cane to the post of the keg that 40psi is coming out into the fermenter. What I do is just put the end of the racking cane into the head space of the fermenter without enclosing it with the carboy cap (or bung) and then let the 40psi shoot through the line and cane into the head space which purges the line, cane, and head space with CO2. Then drop the racking cane into the beer and attach the cap/bung, sealing the system. Hook up your CO2 and keep it low.

Technically this probably belongs in the previous week's thread since today is the 15th, but…

Brewed Vikeman's Raspberry Grisette this morning. This weekend: will rack an ECY08-Saison onto 5 oz. of dried hibiscus flowers, and will sample (and possibly bottle) a wild ale brewed with fresh orange zest and ECY34.

Brewed a Two Hearted clone and bottled a Rye PA yesterday, will be bottling a Brett saison on Sunday, brewing a Kitchen Sink IPA on Monday with a bunch of different hops that I've got an ounce or less of and need to get them out of the freezer. This will be my last batch for a month or so as I prep to shut down the homebrewery for a month while I'm visiting family (and better yet many of my favorite breweries) in Portland Oregon. :grinning:

No brewing. I will be bottling my brett trois APA though. Also will stop by my LHBS for ingredients for my next, probably the averagely perfect saison.

We haven't really decided where we'll go...we usually head up into the Columbia River Gorge a lot and up towards Mount Hood a couple of times. I think we're heading to the coast and stay at Rockaway. Might head over to the desert past Hood, towards Smith Rocks possibly as well.

Any recommendations of places to visit while around? I've hit around 20 different breweries in the area, but I'm always up for anywhere with great beer

@DrMindbender Eugene's beer scene has exploded in the past few years, and Block 15 in Corvalis isn't too far North of us. Fort George in Astoria, de Garde in Tillamook.

Thanks! I'll do my best to check those spots out...any other "can't miss" spots or recommendations from anyone would be appreciated! I don't want to miss the best stuff in the area while I have the chance to check them out  My in laws live near Rosa Parks and Vancouver, so we visit Breakside, Ecliptic, Strom Breaker/old Amnesia and other nearby breweries daily (and Deschutes is always a favorite stop in the city), but I'm all about experiencing new breweries and brews as much as possible! We visit Hood River often as well, but have only checked out Full Sail and a couple of other smaller breweries that direction as well.

Thanks in advance for any other recommendations!!!

Holy shit that was a gigantic nightmare. I was going through a bucket and the grommet was far too big for the cane. All I did was waste a ton of co2 and racked it normally. The grommet that came with the bucket (not the one I drilled) needs to be tighter. Ugh
