That's every brewery ever.. We're all products of the "new shiny thing " . crows attracted to silver Wondrous sucks now, too The prices they charge for mid level Lagers is insane and their barrel program produces pure simple syrup
I wouldn't say they suck but their beers are way too expensive, especially once they hit distro. Doesn't make sense to spend $20+ for a 4 pack of lager when you can get reality czech for like $14.
about to say the same thing. Brewers here, feel free to chime in, but I’ve just come to assume the 400 ipas you release each year are all the same with just a different hop blend.
Second those Viking cans were amazing! Too bad they didn’t hold up at all. I might still have some left actually if anyone wants to try it, but I’ll be upfront and say their cans don’t hold up as good as other do. It’s their canning system and that created issues for them in the past with their IPAs too, they hired mobile canners
Anyone know if they ever brew Viking´s Lament anymore? Years ago it made it to Vermont and mt wife went crazy for it. She wanted to ship some here to Vermont, but that wasn’t feasible…
Well, I guess it's not just me then. I find myself getting stuff from Fieldwork less and less, and each time I get more and more disappointed. Last time I got Galaxy Sauce (which at one point was one of my favorite DIPAs), it just...wasn't very good at all. Also, their taplist isn't as interesting as it used to be (although to be fair, I suppose that's craft beer in general now). They've always had like 2 dozen IPAs on tap but at any time I used to be reliably able to find an ~8-11% stout with judicious use of adjuncts such as Night Moves, Black Ships, Imperial Hot Chocolate, Admiral Snack Bar. I haven't seen anything like that in a very long time. The most recent closest thing was Night Maker a few months ago which was decent but very uninteresting. Death Will Tremble is admittedly very good (and seems to be a core bottle offering now) but that's on the very high end of ABV. The new and shiny theory works to a degree...but I think Fieldwork's beer has also gotten worse. Yeah, I don't go out of my way to get Cellarmaker, Russian River, Monkish or even Alpha Acid as much as I used to, but each time I go I'm still not disappointed by their beers. I am disappointed by Fieldwork's.
Last time I had either a Fieldwork or Moonraker beer was about 2 years ago. They don't really distribute anywhere near where I live, so I ordered online from both of them for shipping. The beers seemed ok then, but these posts have me wondering if it's worth ever ordering from them again.
Came across some Fieldwork on tap. Saint Thomas OG. One that I really enjoyed from them way back when. I like Mosaic hops a lot. This beer was good. I wasn't mad at it. But I could also see it hitting a lot of people wrong. It had the onion/garlic thing in the nose the way few beers I've ever come across have, and while the flavor was clean and crisp it was also pretty generic. None of the berry or overripe pineapple touches that make mosaic stand out to me. Overall, it's still a good beer. But, I found it on tap at a very good beer bar and there's at least 4 ipas (including a hazy) that I'd order before it again in addition to all the other styles I might be more interested in at the moment. I can see how they could run a lot of successful tap rooms if they can deliver this grade of brewery across styles though. Seems like there's a lot of wisdom in staying out of wide distribution
