Has anyone had Kuhnhenn's DRIPA recently?

I am not sure if they purposely have changed the recipe or if this is a bad batch...

The flavor is way off. Much more malt forward then ever before....

Where is the delicious hoppy beer that I have had so many times????

I have noticed changes in that beer batch after batch, personally I don't think it's been as good in a while :slight_frown: used to be so great!

Haven't had it recently, but have heard people say the same thing.

Something about substituting ingredients and different people brewing it at different locations. Allegedly the employees are just as disappointed as the customers.

Why do they continue to sell it? Kuhnhenn, that's why.

They do have a new, larger brewhouse in the production facility. That takes most breweries time to dial in.

As far as I am aware, they are not even using the new brewhouse yet. They are still brewing their beer at the original location and bringing it to the production facility. I am not sure the details, but I am told that there have been many legal/permitting delays in getting the production facility running. It has been open for a couple year now, and still nothing going on. They have large picture windows that look into the brewhouse from the bar area, but they are covered with brown paper and have an under construction sign. (It has been that was pretty much the whole time the place has been open...except for the holiday season where they do make cover it with wrapping paper...lol)......

I am dumbfounded that they are not up and running.

Not sarcasm. They are outdoing themselves.

Then to add to the disappointment, they have their latest bottle release of KRE not even come close to selling out. Pretty sure they still have a bunch at the brewery. (the release was a couple months ago)

***Maybe is the insane gouging of almost $40 per bottle.***

Not sure what they are doing, but doesn't appear things are going in a positive direction....

Wasn't this supposed to be bottled for distribution a couple of years ago?

Last time I had it all I could taste was an awful Belgian yeast strain.

This thread saddens me. I haven't been in a couple years now (and never to the new location), but have tried DRIPA the past couple of years at fests and felt the same way. Please tell me creme brulee java stout hasn't changed.

I felt the same way about DRIPA when I had it a couple of months ago. Something has changed for the bad.

Serious question...at what point did people think DRIPA was really good? Asking because I have never been impressed by it, so I don't know if I had it after it supposedly got worse, or if I just never cared for the beer people thought was good. I'm guessing I just never cared for it, as I know I had it back in 2015, and this thread was just started at the beginning of this year.

I think I first had it back in 2013 and really enjoyed it. Then I remember getting bottles the following year and enjoyed it at that point. Then had it again the past 2 summers at Great Taste and thought it tasted different. However, that could have all been my palate ruined those days. But during that time I heard that they had problems brewing out of the new place, or had brewers leave or something that the overall quality wasn't as good. I can't vouch for any of it as I haven't been there in a couple years, so that may all just be hearsay.

Probably around the time it won gold at GABF for best IPA.

I loved this beer in summer '16 at bar Louiee in auburn hillls. It was my go to before pone knob concerts.
I haven't had it in over a year though.

Not sure when it will be released again but it was released last year. I think they still have bottles to go at the Warren location.
