To avoid the case where the label completely tore off, and in an attempt to find out who it came from/going to, they snoop in the box. "Oh, an extra label right here, well today is my lucky day! I probably won't bother open the garbage bag inside to look any further!"

Takes 10 extra seconds and if it saves one box, it is well worth it.

Question: does anybody else put the FedEx label right over where the box opens at the top, so if they want to open it up, they have to destroy the original label and go through the trouble of putting a new one on?

That's why you write the tracking number in Sharpie on the box itself.

Seriously though, I avoid that whole question by printing my own labels through Fedex online and just dropping the box off to be shipped. I just say "This is all set," get a receipt and walk out the door. Haven't been asked *Brad Pitt Voice* "What's in the booooox?" since I started doing this.

I've heard of trades gone awry with the label being totally obliterated/illegible. No guarantee it will get delivered once opened, but it can help and is pretty easy thing to do.

One time there was this young girl maybe 20-21 taking my box I said dildo's and lube. She went beet red and barely looks at me now when I drop off boxes.

This was always my approach until recently. The last times i've dropped off using this approach (2 different fedex's), i've still been asked about the box. In fact, the most recent dropoff, she actually chased me into the parking lot because she picked up the box and heard liquid. So she came running out as i was driving away to ask me if it was wine.

Now, i still follow the 5 steps above, but also:

    6. Be ready with a backup story about marinades or something in case you're asked. You don't want to look like an idiot as you try to make something up.

Does FedEx actually ship liquid foodstuffs, or is there just less stigma about it?

They always get reweighed at some point. At least with FedEx.

Yes, indeed. I would guess UPS does dimensional weighting, also. Not sure on USPS, but that carries its own risks.

I'll be honest bill, it sounds like you botched step 5... Kidding aside it wouldn't hurt to have a cover story but you're the first person I've heard of that's had to talk about the contents of a box after dropping off. Bummer, fedex may be onto us.

Yes, both UPS & Fedex ship liquid foodstuffs. My company from Vermont is Maple Solutions and I ship lots of "maple syrup" in various sized bottle and cans.
