Nitro and co2? What kind of setup do you have?

Exactly that - two tap kegerator with a nitro tank / reg and a CO2 tank / reg. It all fits inside, not elegant but it works. I can also run two CO2 taps with independent pressures.

Props to @billandsuz for making the nitro side possible, and all nice new lines.

One more thought here….as the Sea Hag keg gets near the end, I’m going to experiment and put it on the beer gas and see what I get.

My experience at bars that do it is that is will get the creamy Guinness texture, but change the flavor. Going on vacation so it won’t be for a while.

You are going to get a beer shake.

Guinness is carbed to only around 1.5 vols. If you try to push a 2.5 vol beer through a stout faucet the result is almost comical. All of that CO2 gas breaks out and it is almost twice the Guinness. You can virtually eat the beer with a spoon. If you skip the nitro faucet the beer will just begin to go flat quickly.

You may want to de-gas the beer prior to applying beer gas. You are going to lose a lot of bite and the beer will be quite sweet when you remove the carbonic acid.

Nitro IPAs were a thing for about 15 minutes. If you recall it was the answer to a question nobody asked. Horrible imo.

    Cheers

All good points, and when I was cleaning the faucets prior to going away, I realized the IPA is almost ready to kick. Not worth giving it a try at this point anyway. I'll settle down now, back to staying between the lines.

I've missed this thread, have thought about reviving it but the last one seemed to get less and less traffic. Thanks @7irondave for starting it. Currently I have Toppling Goliath King Sue on tap. I usually try to go for something more local but it was hard to pass it up when I saw it was available.

Just swapped in a quarter barrel of FiddleHead. It's crazy that a quarter barrel of this is cheaper than many sixth barrels I've purchased.

Tapped and drained a 5 gal keg of Bent Paddle Venture Pils at the cabin during the South Dakota duck hunting season.
My son & friend were definitely in a beer drinking mood, sure wish I would have gotten a 2nd barrel:wink:!!
