Unfortunately no beer but some fantastic whisky, cognac and calvados are keeping me happy right now. Can't wait to get me some RIS on Tuesday.

Had a pretty wild night on Friday courtesy of the LC single batch. So drinkable, but oh so strong....

Finances been pretty tight lately, but I'm a sucker for growlers. Got a Morissons Irish Red Ale which went down very nicely.
You guys with your fancy sour imported beers are just crazy!

lukie i'm hoping we'll see you on the 25th of next month cos then you'll be having tilquin on your b'day.
i'm having freaks and geeks. bought it as an afterthought and very glad i did, don't think i've been so confounded by any other beer in my life! anyone got any idea what style it is? my best guess is 'wild rauchsaison'
spicelab: where'd you get that echt kriekenbier? aussie shores? it was one of the best beers i had on a recent usa/canada trip

    From Beer Planet in Brussells.

I'm a bit surprised no-one has brought it in here yet, considering we've seen Vichtenaar and Duchesse De Bourgogne.

What we do and don't get is really quite random in a lot of ways. There doesn't appear to be any real reason why we couldn't get put hands on most of the stuff that makes it across the Atlantic.

All to do with availability from suppliers. Due to the nature of Belgium breweries, most of the time they don't deal directly with exports, they use a firm. (You would be surprise how many breweries all around the world use export firms).

Things might be changing soon in regards to Belgians coming over.

I'm drinking some Tilquin now, I know that doubly hurts you Lukie, as I'm a philistine.

I will look for an off-license that sells them though and bring some home for you. I'm sure between myself and Andrew we can keep you in Tilquin for a little bit longer. The guy at the bar won't do it for me. :slight_frown:

NY is a bit weird in that there is a reasonable selection but prices a high. You may be able to find some Drie Fonteinen which is fantastic as far as lamb is go. In terms of US stuff you should be able to find, Weyerbacher is great, Captain Lawrence is an interesting US brewery. It may be worth looking for some Dogfish 120 or WWS if there is any around. If you can find it, Heady Topper is supposed to be amazing.

Drie Fonteinen is coming to Australia soon so might want to hold off on getting that from the US, unless you find one of their rarities

I managed to find some pretty tasty Cascade Kriek as well as some awesome Goose Island and Allagash sours while I was there. It's very easy to find good IPA's at any bar or beer store in NYC.

It has been about 6 years since I was in NYC but I would suggest that more than chasing individual beers just take what is in front of you and observe the scene at hand. Two of my absolute alltime fav beer bars are in NYC. The Blind Tiger (general craft beery goodness) in Manhattan and Spuyten Duyvil (Belgian-y inspired craft beery goodness) in Brooklyn. You will be sure to find some fantastic beers that you never knew existed as well as many new and old classics at venues like these and many others.... Mugs, Barcadia etc etc...

The Blind Tiger has moved since I was there so not sure what the atmosphere is like now but am sure it will still be excellent.
