What's your beer buying strategy?

I go for the one with alcohol, because I am a hard core alcoholic.

I don't have any one theory of beer shopping.
Depends what I am in the mood for that day.
Sometimes I know exactly what I want, sometimes I browse and find something that looks interesting.

Sometimes I'll go in knowing exactly which beer I want and I'll check to see if they have it. Other times whatever catches my attention wether its price or label or whatever. If I see a beer that you guys are hyping up here that I havent had yet then I'll try to look for it. Also like to look for new beers from breweries who I am very familar with.

 

Plan starts with specific beer in mind cant find beer so i grab everything that looks or sound interesting and subtley ask about specials and shmooz

 

"Strategy" and "beer" should not be used in the same sentence. Unless the word "drinking" comes directly before the word "beer" and the word "woman" or "women" comes after the word "strategy".

 

I try to spend less than 50% of my monthly grocery budget on beer.

 

Go into the store with a craving or two. See what's new. Then decide what to purchase based on how those options play out at the moment (it's usually something from Column A and something from Column B).

 

I buy all them wax top bottles, cuz #whalezbro!

 

I ask my reps what new beer they have available for me, then I order, buy, and drink that beer.

I typically do one or more of the following:
Buy the beers I like, try a seasonal or try something new. Lately, I have been sampling IPAs.
My greatest challenge is that the beers I like list is growing.

 

Scan for a Top 250 beer and after that I just play by ear.

 

When I started I would just go in and make an educated beer pick of something I hadn't had. Now, I usually do similar just with new stuff.

 

I am pretty over buying $10 underwhelming bombers so I mostly stick to stuff that's rated 90+ here unless it's cheap or I know that I like it. When something is released near me that I like I tend to buy a good amount of it, i.e. 4 6-packs of Sucks, multiples of whatever FW Reserve is out, etc.

 

This is the beat thread today. I buy that which I haven't yet experienced which I think I will enjoy... Or Southern Tier's Creme Brûlée if they have it. Best beer going, don't care what u say.

I usually go in looking for a particular release or seasonal and then see what else they have in that has solid reviews and is something I have not had before.

 

I always go in with a short list. Most of the time I come with a long receipt.
