Surely a less than popular style, but for some reason I'm finding myself drawn to macro ice beers these days. What's the best one you've tried, other than 'none'? I really appreciate the clean, smooth flavor of ice beers. I think some are a little less nasty than certain standard AALs.
So far: I've really enjoyed Icehouse, Natty Ice was a letdown.

Labatt's maximum ice was okay back in college. Bud Ice i recall not liking. Molson Ice was okay too.

The only Ice Beer i've had was Busch Ice and it was god awful. If you are looking for something of a higher quality, you might want to look into Eisbocks. They are bocks, typically of German origin, that are made using the same methods as Macro Ice Lagers. I have not tried an Eisbock but I have heard that they are pretty decent.

Kulmbacher is big enough to be called a "macro" so Kulmbacher Eisbock fits the bill :stuck_out_tongue:
Otherwise I remember Icehouse being one of the few that wasn't undrinkable.

Not in the US, where the TTB (successor to the ATF mentioned in the Ruling) specifies that "...Not more than 0.5% of beer can be removed as ice crystals" - ATF Ruling 94--3

I guess Bud Ice. Does Bud Light Platinum count? This is kind of like picking the shiniest of turds.

Fine... made using "similar" methods. Sorry, I seem to be lacking in my ATF knowledge :stuck_out_tongue:

Bud Light Platinum tastes worse than Bud Light, which I previously thought was impossible
