Ice beer was the thing in high school and college b/c with extremely limited funds you could drink less and/or get more sh!tfaced than drinking regular beer. Not knocking anyone, but I do find the posts funny that state most ice beers were undrinkable with exception of (fill in blank). I pretty much had them all and couldn't distinguish them at all they were so bad.
To answer the question, though, Natural Ice was the go-to beer. I think a case was less than $10 at some point and guaranteed you bring home two cases and you and your broskis were going to get trashed on a Tuesday night (oh college).

Sorry, I don't mean to be judge and jury, nor do I mean a "total" elitist, but...IMHO this is not thread worthy.

This discussion ALMOST made me want to buy one where I work. Then I looked up the expectations. Eisbock is the only ice beer in my head, and I've had the best.

Idk, $4 for a 12% abv 11.2oz bottle in Aventinus Eisbock is a better value in most ways.

I don't care what the price point is, unless it's negative (i.e. someone is paying me to drink it - and even then, I doubt it would be worth it).

Colt Ice was by far my favorite. I don't believe it is still in production. Way better than regular Colt 45, and much tastier than any other ice beer I could remember drinking.
