Love or hate 'em, India Pale Ales of all varieties currently dominate the craft beer scene and drain wallets dry every day. But today (Aug 4) is a day to celebrate. Why? It's IPA Day! So, what's your favorite IPA? (Feel free to jump on this same question on our socials too: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) Hoppy IPA Day!
Comrade Superpower overall Lagunitas IPA for something I can drink every day Rumble would be my all-time fave if it was still made
Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale or Fat Heads Head Hunter. If someone offered me a Celebration Ale or a Head Hunter, I would pick Celebration Ale. With it being a seasonal during the fall and winter months the rest of the year my favorite ipa would be Fat Heads Head Hunter.
Russian River Pliny The Elder - more bitter than I prefer, but quality Dogfish Head 120 Minutes Lupulin Strictly Illegal Fair State Double Universe Avery Double Digit
Most frequently consumed is Light Hearted Ale and it’s not even close. My highest rated IPA is undoubtedly a one off from HOMES. Probably my favorite NEIPA with constant availability would be “The Juice is Loose”; Transient Artisan Ales. Cheers.
I too loved Rumble, any other oaked IPA that gets distribution? Based on what I drink my favorites are Yards Torpedo Two Hearted Perpetual Celebration Given more $ to buy what I want Head Hunter Sue AleSmith Lawsons Heady Focal IPA I miss Original Columbus IPA SN Hop Hunter Weyerbacher Double Simcoe Mosaic Promise , in 15 packs I just started to drink Fiddlehead and see it’s available here now. My guess is it will be too much $ for me to buy. I’m already missing those $3 19.2 cans I had in NY I won’t have an IPA today as I’m working quite late and have a 7 hour turn around for Friday. Enjoy
Torpedo ... Dankful ... Atomic Torpedo ... and seasonal Celebration from Sierra Nevada. Dogfish Head 120 minute Lagunitas IPA ... Lagunitas Maximus IPA
The three best in my opinion are al English ... Fuller's Bengal Lancer India Pale Ale Shepherd Neame India Pale Ale Samuel Smith's India Ale
White Oak Jai Alai is the only one I know of. Napa Smith's Hopageddon is a stronger take on the concept, but I don't think they distribute anything very far if at all anymore.
Four Chicago IPA Stars Available Year Round in Chicago: Revolution Anti-Hero & Spiteful IPA Chicago Seasonals: Half Acre Navaja & Spiteful 10/9 Bike Messenger Appreciation IPA Four for the Road Available in Las Vegas & sometimes here: Beachwood Amalgamator & AleSmith IPA Favorites beyond Chicago & Las Vegas: Fat Heads IPA & Russian River Pliny the Elder You can buy me an Amalgamator, any old time.
All-time fav: Sierra Nevada Celebration Year-round and available: SN Torpedo and Fiddlehead IPA Honorable mentions: Bells Two Hearted, Alchemist Focal Banger, Pollyanna Lexical Gap, and Fat Head’s Head Hunter
In a world where I could get my favorite any time any where- Pliny Yellow Rose Head Hunter all hit the sweet spot for me. For what's regularly available it's probably Cape May Coastal Evacuation, especially when fresh. Maine Lunch is just too pricey per bottle to be a regular, but on draught it's one I'd never pass up.
All year: Bell’s Two Hearted Ale and Fat Head’s Head Hunter are neck and neck Seasonal: Fat Head’s Hop Juju I’m not considering beers I don’t regularly see here but like, e.g. Sip of Sunshine or Pliny the Elder, and only occasionally get because of the generosity of other Advocates.
According to my ratings log its a tie (or close enough) between Bell's Two Hearted Ale and Rush Duck Remarkable Liquids 2nd Anniversary IPA.
I agree with MotorHate, Sammy Smith India ale. Domestic is Founder's Double Trouble, but it's never "in season" anymore. I'll drink a 2-Hearted, but I'm so worn out from it. Other than that, I'm sick n tired of them.
Be Hoppy by Wormtown Brewery when I'm in New England and Jia Alai by Cigar City when I'm in Florida. These beers are available fresh and on draft, reasonably priced, true to style and a great value.
There are so many good ones, but my favorite American IPA is Racer 5. As far as "English" Samuel Smith has a very good example as noted above.
I can’t pick a single one, but I got to shout out Whiplash, best brewery in Ireland making the best IPA in Ireland by a mile
Not only is it my favourite style , American IPA (280) beers consumed but Driftwood has got me hooked , Gold , Silver & Bronze #1 - (4.54) Sartori Harvest IPA | Driftwood Brewery | BeerAdvocate #2 - (4.53) Fat Tug IPA | Driftwood Brewery | BeerAdvocate #3 - (4.34) Raised By Wolves IPA | Driftwood Brewery | BeerAdvocate have a hoppy IPA day
Hoppy IPA Day! Oh gosh. Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, Ithica Flower Power IPA, Bell's Two Hearted, Whitbread Pale Ale (snuck that one in). Too many favorites!
If I want to set the bar really high: Bells Two hearted, but that was via an international trade so… thanks @superspak Pliny the Elder and like above beside thanks to @beergoot Fresh Hops (Oregon) thanks to @John_M because I got them super fresh. As for more available IPAs I’ll have to go with Duvel Triple Hop Cashmere or Citra, Hopus or Houblon Chouffe hence Belgian ones. Cheers!
