just pretend double ipas are normal ipas, then every single ipa is now a session ipa with all the flavor. problem solved.

Stone Go To is the best light IPA I've had. Or Diet IPA as I would call it. But session? The only one I've ever seen is from Mikkelar the bikini beer.

Most of what's been posted here is way too high to be a session IPA

Agreed. Most of these beers suck hard, even the well made ones by respected Brewers. Someone mentioned ST tangier- this beer is shit. It's super watery and bitterly hopped with no balance whatsoever and it's still 5%. Just drink a bottle of water and suck on some pelletized hops if you have to.

I'm not English and most of you probably aren't either so you probably aren't super enthused about room temp lightly carbonated cask milds that come in at 3.5%. Drink whatever the hell you want but if I want to drink in volume something like Anderson Valley Blood Orange gose is way ahead of easy jack or go to in my pecking order.

I just got a growler of Single Cut Kim hibiscus tartt lagrrrrrrrrrr or whatever the hell it's called. It's a 3.5% Berliner with hibiscus and I could drink gallons of this beer in the warmer months. Miles ahead of this crappy iced hop tea that is now obviously a bandwagon product for so many companies.

Quite liked the Little Bling I had today. And at 3.5% ABV, a genuine session beer.

Funny you should say that. I saw a whole bunch of Americans slurping down sub 4% ABV cask Dark Mild in Hogs Apothecary in Oakland today.

That just tells me you don't understand what a session is.

    In order...

    Carton Boat
    Night Shift Whirlpool
    Oscars Pinner

All sessions taste light for a reason, but if you're in the sun or have a long day ahead and want to pace yourself a little, these are all nice hoppy substitutes. I see a lot of posters saying All Day IPA and although I'll drink it, it's def a piney session.

I'm sure I would enjoy something like that very much. Unfortunately that isn't a take home option in this area and is a real rarity in a bar/pub too. But you can definitely find case upon case of hop water!

I realize in reading back over my slightly intoxicated post that it seems like I dont like milds or cask beer or English beer which couldn't be further from the truth. However there is very little in these styles to take home or to even enjoy on premise in my neck of the woods. There are, however, tons of lousy low abv IPAs.

I think I do , sub 4% abv brews that are user friendly if your going to put a few away in a reasonable time.IPAs as a style are not particularly well suited to be 4% abv brews and still be good. Obviously you drop the malt to lower the abv, and the hops without that balance IMO are unpleasant. Session brews are better left for othe styles. That's it agree or disagree; my opinion.

Not ESBs , they lie well outside the session range. That's why Fuller's chose the name to describe their Extra Special Bitter.Strictly speaking Fuller's in the only true ESB.

The place in Durham makes a terriffic Mild, lots of flavor and a bit on the bitter side. Abv 3.8%, don't think I could drink it all day, but it tastes great and if your eating no doubt you could make an afternoon safely. He makes a Bitter too, but it's a tad over 4 or so, it's great too. I misapplied the ESB to their Bitter. Tap only but you could drink a growler solo.
