I generally drink in the evening, but for some reason really enjoy having a beer (usually a coffee stout) or Irish coffee or bloody (sometimes beery) Marys on Sunday morning. It's the day of rest and relaxation, ya'll. In fact, I'm going to mix up an Irish coffee right now. :grinning:

Another vote for happy hour! Something so relaxing of a post work brew before dinner.

I usually settle down about 6:30 pm on a Saturday or Sunday evening and enjoy a few while playing the guitar or listening to music. I seldom drink during the week as alcohol interferes with my sleep, and like most of you, I have to work.

Ninety-nine percent of my beer drinking is with a meal, and 95% of that is with dinner, so 5-6 o'clock. Once or twice a week it's at a brewpub, and that can be anywhere from lunchtime or dinner time. Even if my wife and I are on a pub crawl there is probably an app consumed with the beer. It helps to soak up the alcohol.

Friday, Saturday evening is beer time for me. Very seldom during the week as I have a 5:15 morning call.
Retired and working an easy 5 hour a day gig for beer money. Done at Noon. I like to save yard work/gardening for Friday afternoons so I can work up a thirst by 4/5. Light meal and back outside to the patio to enjoy the sunset with the wife.
She sips her wine. I sip my beer(s). Life is good.

A mid-afternoon cheese plate with some beer is really good. Late night before going to sleep works well. 9 AM in the Meadowlands parking lot with the smell of lighter fluid before a Giants game is the best.

During rare days when work is lax, I tend to take a early out and head to the pub. I find it gratifying to be able to drink when others are busy working. Ah, the joys of pettiness!

I have the vast majority of beers with dinner (or a pool party, BBQ, etc.)

For the last 2 months, I often have one in the afternoon on my terrace, during the 7:00 cheer, or more lately watching the protests go by on their way to Gracie Mansion.

Never ever in the morning with one exception: Tailgating before a 1pm football game. Almost always around or after 5pm. Even weekends I sometimes think I will have a beer around 3 or so but it never happens. Usually a late drinker and early am excerciser. I also rarely drink a beer with dinner- its usually wine. If its a free Saturday or Holiday I happen to have off I may go: Pilsner, Cocktail, Wine and then after eating Stout or IPA high abv. Another exception is fried seafood- clams, oysters, fish or shrimp. Have to have an AAl or pils with that or its sacrilege.

If I’m on holiday it’s when I wake up most days.

Normal world it’s most times after work at night.

Day drinking is rare in the real world and would be pre virus days if I went out to eat lunch at Monks or some other beer place. I get sleepy after 2-3 with lunch.

All of the above can also go out the door in the correct setting.

    Enjoy

Now, this is a difficult and easy question.
    Easy:
Objectively, there is a specific, optimal tasting time in the day depending a little bit on the time you get up in the morning. In short, 11 AM is optimal. When you get up in the morning at 7-8 AM and have your breakfast, by 11 AM the breakfast has been digested, you don't feel overly hungry and your taste buds are most susceptible for picking up (new) tastes. The alert taste buds will remain alert for about 1-2 hours. So, by 1 PM, it is time to call your tasting day to an end.

    Dififcult:
There is a subjective side of the question. Like many others I don't start tasting before 7-8 PM. It is difficult to follow the objective adagio mentioned above.

It is important to stop tasting a substantial time before hitting the sack. It is also adviseable to follow WHO Guidelines of not tasting for (at least) 2 days per week.
Once you hit the age of 50, your taste buds will not be exchanged every 2-3 weeks but it just takes longer to get new ones (I know it sounds crazy). So, tasting for 50+ people is more difficult because of the biological development but is easier thanks to extensive tasting experience.

Pretty much done with day drinking unless I'm on vacation. Too often it can derail a day, especially if I'm planning on being active with my kids or otherwise.

5pm usually works during dinner prep, appetizers, etc.

Usually after 6pm. And usually not more than two. After that I’m pretty much done, and it’s not fun waking up the next day when I’ve had too many.

I usually drink with or after a meal. If I'm out at lunch somewhere and don't have anything going on after that, I'll have a beer. Mostly it's in the evening with dinner or after. I'm a light weight, 1 fairly high (6% or higher) beer and it's good night Irene.

For me about 5 P.M. during the week weekends early afternoon around 3ish.
unless at a brew pub for lunch or at a sporting event I miss sports and tailgating.

I very rarely drink a beer without it accompanying a meal of some sort. So it's usually mid to late afternoon with lunch or a snack (inside while watching sports on TV or outside on the patio), with dinner, or, during the colder part of the year, something strong after dark with dessert. A maximum of 3 beers/day (usually 1-2), Thursday-Sunday only during a normal work week.

On weekends, or most days now that my wife doesn't go to work, I start telling myself to grab a beer around 3 PM also, but it's still closer to 5 before I actually get around to it. As a retired person I have too much to do to get bogged down in a beer fog.

Depends where I am! At the beach or the lake maybe 2PM for a refreshing afternoon beer. Winter at home during a snow storm, a winter style lager warms you up before bed maybe around 9PM with the Mrs.
    Or the standard 5PM!
But hey if the time feels right, enjoy one responsibly!

Pretty much my take on it after swapping back and forth from day shift to night shift too.

I think the best is waking up mid-morning on a weekend when you have nothing planned and drinking a rich imperial stout in place of your coffee is the absolute best though. Take a nap for lunch, have a few light beers and good food in the evening... that’s the perfect drinking schedule!
