I have been thinking about this and I would say Odin's tipple on tap. I was at a place in Sacramento called the shack. The owner was telling me for weeks about how I have to try this when he taps it after beer week. I showed one day and it was on tap. It was probably one of the best beers I've had. I went back every day until it was gone which wasnt that long. After that I never saw it on tap but as of a week ago I found a local place that sells it and it is as good as I remember from a few years ago.

I was 9 with a coors light in hand... hated it. My next memorable brew was a Delirium Nocturnum... lyfe.

The greatest beers are always tied to memories that were created while drinking and the people we were with.

Mine would be between 1 of two occasions.

The first would be the first beer I ever drank with my dad. It was a Summer Shandy on the beach while back from college after my 21st birthday. He bought the beer and we shared a night on the beach remembering summers past, talking about golf rounds and camping trips together.

The other would be a night out with my best friend at Bavarian Lodge. It was our first "beer geek" night. We were young in the craft game and tried some amazing beers that really opened our eyes. Brooklyn Double Chocolate, Vitis, Double Trouble, and a bottle of 2012 BCBCS, among others. That was the night I realized how amazing the craft beer world is. Awesome beers and service, with a great friend. Doesn't get better than that. I've had plenty of nights where the beer lists were more rare, but that night and the excitement of diving into the craft beer world is something I'll never forget.

    Fresh bottle of CBS.

A coworker and I drive 6 hours starting at 4 am to hop in line by 10. This was my first beer release and having to drive that far home., we didn't drink any on tap. A couple breweries and 400 miles later we got home and got to crack a bottle. That was my first whale and the #1 beer at the time. It took me an hour to drink 11 oz.

Having Hunahpu's on tap at Rattle N Hum, never having heard of it, before it was even bottled. Can't think of another beer that has so totally surprised and blown me away.

Years back, when I first started drinking beer, I was downing bud lights while camping with some friends. Midway through the night, I cracked open a Heineken. Tasting how skunked it was, I drunkenly (and loudly) proclaimed, "THIS TASTES LIKE RACCOON!"

Drinking a 1986 Chimay Blue at Kulminator in Antwerp. Something kinda cool about drinking a beer as old as you are.

Overnight bus trip from Edinburgh to London. Unfeasibly long and horrible trip from London to Paris. Horribly uncomfortable underground train from Paris central station to the local station nearest the hotel we were staying at while being hot, tired, and desperately in need of the toilet and a long hot shower. The little hotel we were staying at, of course, had problems with checkout and cleaning the rooms so we were delayed again. The hotel had a cans dispenser on the wall - for 10 Francs you could get a cold, cold, cold can of whatever beverage.

That is the first and last time I considered Heineken to be the nectar of the Gods :grinning:

It was odd to see ice cubes in my beer.

So many memorable beers, I think the one that tops it is drinking BVDL on tap at Dark Lord Day.

I have an answer for wine (B.R. Cohn Olive Hill Estate). For beer, it's more a day/brewery than a single beer. One fantastic day in Seattle, visiting a former roommate. Hit the old, original Red Hook Brewery, and just missed the tour. Sat at the bar across from a girl I recall as being nothing less than angelic, who was the bartender. Good music playing. Drank something, probably ESB, waiting for the tour. At tour time, the pretty blonde bartender was our tour guide. Has some samples and after that they put down several mixed pitchers on some picnic tables in the brewery. 3/4 of the tour left...leaving I think four people with 6-8 pitchers. Best brewery visit ever. Have had a soft spot for ESB every since, even as my tastes, and the craft beer scene, have changed.

It will be the first beer I drink after I get married to Giada DeLaurentiis. She'll be pairing with some fine Italian dishes.
