What's your most underrated beer?

I had my first raison d'être last night. I don't understand how a beer this good and reasonably priced is rated so low. I feel like DFH is unfairly discriminated against on here.

 

Baying Hound Brewery is massively underrated.

 

O'Dempsey's Russian Imperial Stout is pretty damn good. It's super fudgy and I liken it to Dark Horse BA Plead the 5th (since that beer has absolutely no barrel character).

 

I know it's still pretty new on here and doesn't have too many ratings, but Molotov Cocktail by Evil Twin. Stunning brew.

I have heard that before. I'm starting to believe it.

 

Nelson and Duet should both be in the top 10...

I'm going to interpret this question as more or less "what beers do you like that don't get as much appreciation as you feel they deserve", and these are some beers for which that description applies:

• Boulevard ZON (3.53 on BA)
• Arcadia Sky High Rye (3.75 on BA)
• Bitburger Pils (3.47 on BA, but I wonder if tap vs. bottle makes a big difference--I've only had it on tap)
• Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA (3.71 on BA)

 

I feel that Uinta does not get enough love. Labyrinth is one of my favorite stouts of all time.

 

+1 on Avatar Jasmine IPA. Great summer beer.

Im also going to throw out Maui Coconut Porter and Bikini Lager. Just because something is less than 10% ABV and not soaked in brandy barrels for 5 years, doesnt mean it isnt delicious.....which coconut porter is.

 

In San Diego a year ago, had Duet, Pure Hoppiness, and Nelson at Alpine. Had Pliny at Toronado. Sculpin and Habenero Sculpin at various locations. Went to Coronado and had all of their IPA offerings (another underrated bunch of beers). Green Flash WCIPA. Palate Wrecker at Hamiltons, Hop 15 at Pizza Port. Alesmith IPA somewhere I can't remember.

But a fresh batch of Mongo, several pours at several locations, was the best hoppy beer of the trip. Hands down.

 

I was a little surprised that their Wyld was rated a bit low at only an 80. I only had it once, but thought it was pretty tasty for a pale ale.

 

I'm gonna have to go with MateVeza's Morpho Herbal Ale. It got a 74 on BA, but depending on what you like, I think it should be somewhere in the upper 80's...I love hoppy beer, but this one is quite unique having zero IBUs.

 

Coronado Brandy Barrel BW

 

I had it for the first time recently and was blown away. Not as hop-forward as we seem to have come to expect from our beers, but an incredibly well-done incorporation of the jasmine flavor into the beer without overpowering. I will definitely have to try and get my hands on some more of it.

Full Sail Amber. I know it's not a style that gets a lot of love on here, but I thought that stuff was delicious. Would keep a constant supply if I could.

 

Trumer Pils. Can't get enough.
