Add just a wee nip of Elmer T. Lee bourbon to those for a mighty fine nightcap.

I am finding Lagunitas Hairy Eyeball to be up to the task.

For me it is Brauerei Schloss Eggenberg's Urbock 23. It's a fantastic beer and nice way to end a nice evening.

It is anything I desire. Could be hoppy, sour, bitter, bourbony, or malty.

I don't always have a nightcap, but when I do it's whatever is left over of the beer from Sunday's dinner. Usually on Sundays I'll pull something nice from the cellar, and if it's not all drunk with dinner or after the meal for/with dessert (big bottles, ya' know) then it becomes a nightcap for Sunday, Monday....

For a quick night cap, I actually go for a small glass of single malt. Glenfarclas, Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Balvenie are some commonly grabbed options. Beer right before bed upsets my stomach. But theoretically if I was have a beer night-cap, I'd want something on the sweet side and with a rich malt body.

Founders Porter. The maltiness is perfect and ABV low enough to not buzz before bed. Now if Wegman's would just get some more back in stock...

Should I be a "spoilsport" and say that alcohol before bed does not lead to a productive sleep? Prefer my beers later afternoon or early evening...but to each his/her own.

I'm with you. My wife doesn't understand, but I like to get all my drinking in before 8:00. Especially on workdays.

Yup... I cut myself off at least two hours before I plan to go to bed.
