I don't really have an "old reliable" beer right now. All of my former old reliable beers have been discontinued or simply disappeared from the store shelves.

As a follow up to my previous post, I would like to have an old reliable beer. I am always looking for a well balanced Ale or Lager that has minimal off flavors and traditional malts and hops.

Why are these so hard to find? (rhetorical question) I wish that beers like this were a mainstay in most non-specialty breweries lineups.

I recently was gifted some Fat Tire, that is a candidate that pushes all of the right buttons. I should probably revisit Sam Adams Boston Lager and Alaskan Amber also.

And...6 packs of Anchor Steam showed up in cans as well as mixed 12packs so,I went with the 12Pack.

I'm with OP @Jo_Renish , Sip Of Sunshine. I often call it my "house beer". Because its contract brewed in CT I always have it available fresh and it hits a spot with me.

Deschutes is a good brewery in general, deserves more attention!

Last year I went camping at Raccoon Creek and found Storm King on tap in a small bar in Imperial. If it’s there...

I am a big fan of Alaska Amber, I just wish I could get it within 3 months of can on date.

Heineken in the can. Preferably the big 24oz, it’s the best value if you look at the price per ounce.

Thank you for the reminder sir. A beer I used to drink regularly and loved so much. First time revisiting in a long time thanks to you. A perfect pale ale, I bought a 12 pack and it has the little tab at the bottom so I pull out one and magically another can fills its place. Cheers to old reliables.

It should be Sierra Nevada Pale Ale but I don't drink it often enough. I bought some last week and oh my was it delicious. I didn't check the bottled on date but I must have picked up a fresh one.

For my palate it is more than just a bit lighter in the mouthfeel. I am personally not a fan of this change but to each their own.

    Cheers!
