Like Sucks. As far as I can tell, it hasn't changed but now that it's available whenever I want it, it has lost some of its former luster. It's still very enjoyable but I'm pretty sure my feeling is psychological since I don't have that anticipation of the seasonal release. There's no aaaaaaaah, that's good! after the first sip. Anyone else feel this way about Sucks or any other seasonal that's gone year round?

I think it's a phenomenon of human nature that we are often less appreciative of the everyday things than of the rarer things. If BCBS and Heady and Westy (grabbing three big beers) were readily available all year round at most places in most states, the hype would die off. Not that they would be any less good, but after a time, people's appreciation for them would wane as the bloom comes off the rose, as such. Getting something less often builds up an anticipation and excitement that we lack for everyday things. I think that that kind of psychological state has a definite influence on our physical perceptions.

The handing of sucks is what made t lose it's luster for me. Putting it in 32oz bottles that don't get bought as often because of the odd format and increased prices. Occasionally offering 6 packs that most places here charge too much for to make the 32oz price seem to make sense. If they had made it year round in 6 packs and the 10.99 price stuck it would still have plenty of luster to me.

6 packs of Sucks aren't becoming year round? Shit! When do they end? I need to pick up 1 more sixer of the latest batch!

If they are now that's news to me. They haven't been to this point.

The sixers are year round now, that's why they say "UN-Limited" on the side

It's not just seasonals. The same thing would happen to any hard to get beer. If they could brew 50,000 barrels of Heady Topper a year it would drop out of the top 50 in no time.

Sucks is great! we did just get it in MS not too long ago and I always forget that its available. Drank a bottle yesterday, such a damn fine brew. IMO, if you like a beer or love a beer enough, it will never lose its luster. yes, you might not revisit as much but when you go without for a few days or weeks....when you come back to it, its like home...and that first sip is a quick reminder of why there is no place like home....and you know as well as i do...that mmmmmm is that beer saying "i told you so."

Or the A-IPA. Both are top notch.

I always find some unavoidable variability in hoppy beers, so maybe it was just that last sixer you picked up that wasn't doing it for you and not really anything psychological at all.
