It's been about two years since I've bought one cos I don't think they are very good representations of the beer.

Not that often. Wanted a fill a few weeks ago and went in and they didn't have anything I wanted-was gunning got a local DIPA but the keg had been floated. Seeing as tomorrow is Friday I may make a stop and see what they've got in rotation

Almost never. I used to work at a brewpub and was able to get crazy cheap growler fills of in house beers, but besides that (if memory serves) I've paid for 2 fills ever. Growler economics simply don't make sense, even before factoring in time sensitivity.

If it's a beer on tap that out shines the bottle version, I'm getting a growler. Most times its Beer that I can't get fresh. That's my rule of thumb.

Not often enough. I love my growler but only fill it a few times a year.

In the past, I've filled my growler on Saturday night ahead of a New Beer Sunday when I knew I didn't have a new beer to review that week.

This coming football season, I might shoot for a once-a-week growler run. Laziness is the only reason I don't fill it more often.

Others have mentioned the price thing, but I'll add my $0.02 worth of info: Here in Bryan-College Station, getting the growler filled always ends up being cheaper than the cost of that same amount of beer in cans/bottles. Sometimes its close, but I don't think it's ever cost me more.

All the time. Most af my favorites are draft only so growlers are the only way to enjoy at home.

I go to fill a half growler if they have something unique I want to drink. Of course, something I cannot easily obtain, and that happens frequently in Bellingham, WA.

We'll throw growlers in the car when we make trips away from home. I almost never leave Founders without a full growler. I'll only get growlers of beer that's only had on draft. I'd like to get more growler fills, but a combination of factors, such as a large cellar and the time needed to drink a growler, have made it difficult.

If I ever get the uKeg my sister funded for me last year, I can see getting more fills if only because the beer should keep longer.

I hit a different local brewery at least once a week. Most of the beer I drink is from growlers. If I had to guess I'd say I buy an average of 1.5 gallons a week.

I feel pretty lucky to have places that have a variety of styles for growler/Crowler fills. Some places do fills of stuff that the brewery wouldn't do, and that's mainly what I fill up on.

not often, it will generally only be if it's something I can't obtain in any other way rare even then, the growler is probably my least favorite method of beer delivery. I find that the beer goes flat far faster than I wish to drink it and I have poured out many a good beer because I made the mistake of buying it in a growler and after opening the growler about the third time the beer is flat as shit. I avoid growler purchase if i can unless I think i can finish it in a nite with a group of people, on a general level, the straight from the tap excuse is not enough for me and in any case I generally prefer bottle conditioned beer anyway

I pretty much only get fills for bottleshares, especially if it's from a new brewery that doesn't have a bottling line.

I only get growler fills for special occasions like parties or a bottle share. When I know I'm going to drink it within 24 hours, oxidation on any growler is a problem. As soon as its out of the tap, the air hits it unless the brewery forces oxygen out with C02

This- In Oregon, there are many options where this is the case (Boneyard, Barley Brown.. ) If I want to enjoy these at home, it is my only option (or Crowler).

If I know a bunch of people are coming over for something (ie football Sunday) I'll sometimes make a trip and get something fresh in the growlers.

I use my Growlers all the time. Right now I have 3 in my fridge. Whenever I go to a Brewery I always bring atleast 1. Thers always something worth a fill - every brewery I've ever been to has beers that are brewery only. I pick my favorite and fill up. If I go out of state I bring them all ( I have 6 ) On a recent VT beer run I came home with Growlers from Fiddlehead, Drop In, Prohibition Pig and the Craft Beer Cellar. I also have a list of bars/liqour stores that do Growler fills which I check every few days - if I see something interesting or hard to get I get over there.

I took my Growler to DFH in Rehobeth last year. They had several brewery only rarities on tap. Loved a few of them and wanted to take some home for friends to enjoy. My recollection though was those brewhouse only options weren't open for growler fills. Just the standard lineup of DFH beers you can get in bottles anywhere (60 min, 90 min, etc). Plus the growler fills were a few dollars more than the standard 6 pack I can buy from any store. I passed. Still love DFH beers and the brewpubs are great experience. Just not growler friendly IMO.

Having a 32oz growler has greatly increased the amount that I get a fill. I can get some great NYC draft IPAs these days for $7-8 - Other Half, Singlecut, etc. During my son's bowling season I'll go there once a week, because it's so close by.

32oz growlers (~ a little more than 2 1/2 beers), sounds like a much better solution in my situaiton. Even paying $7-$8. Sours, barrel aged ABV bombs, pilsners, Gose, whatever style its a nice quantity that opens up quite alot more drinking options. Can finish most independently or with 1 other person. No need to coorinate trying to round up 3+ people to split a 12% barrell aged stout within 1 day.
