When does KBS hit South East VA?

Yeah, I'm pretty tight with Mr. Founder so he sends me a case of KBS every year. Its okay, I guess. I usually just use it to cook with.

I live in northern Virginia and just snagged some KBS from total wine in McLean. 2 bottle limit 2 cases left. Norms in Vienna gets it this afternoon.

 

Anyone know what day Hops and Wine hits the RIC? Guess I've let myself slip on intel lately!

 

wow, someone is awfully bitter to miss out on it...I spend enough money at the stores I frequent, so they take care of me...never hurts as an extra for my trading partners either. perhaps get off your ass and go find it? Or develop a personal relationship with stores you do frequent so they'll take care of you.

 

I actually got a four pack myself. Without brown nosing anyone. I just feel bad for the people who really, really want it and can't get it because nonchalant people like you are buying it up.

 

Looks like Grape + Gourmet in VA Beach posted they got some in yesterday. I bet it's gone by now.

 

That was kind of a shit show. It was gone in like 8 minutes. I know any store can sell however they want but if there's that much demand and you're opening it up to holds maybe limit 1 per instead of 2, maybe don't post on FB... something? I don't know, I'm sure I wouldn't be complaining if I was able to get through in time to get some so good for those who did.

 

Yeah, they don't seem to understand the need for a 1 bottle limit sometimes. It doesn't help that craft beer lovers are multiplying quicker than the high demand beers are increasing output with every year so you can only blame a store so much. Granted, that's the only fault I can find in G&G and I have a lot of love for them.

 

I like that they do holds for most things, but I don't see how they can do it for super limited and in high demand things like KBS, because they do it on both facebook and instagram. They post, and immediately there are dozens of comments asking for holds. If it was just facebook (or instagram) they could just go down the list and give it to the first 12 people or whatever, but that must be confusing as shit trying to sort out comments from two platforms.

 

Add phones to it too. Theirs rang busy for me 12 times and when I got through on unlucky 13 (exactly 8 minutes after the post) I was told it was sold out.

Again, every store can do what they want. I'm just bummed because I had called in advance to see what their hold policy would be so I didn't waste their time. Then called a couple times yesterday and told they wouldn't hold until it came in and to watch fb (a week or two back was told calling is better because they fill call ins before fb). 40+ people requested holds on fb within 30 minutes of the post and looks like 4 who requested within 2 minutes got it. That's insane. I am admittedly not a regular customer there but I have such limited options in terms of trying to find some, can't camp out at TW etc. it's just a bummer one I was really trying for didn't pan out.

 

KBS hit RVA & Charlottesville yesterday and word is it will his Harrisonburg today at some point. If you are friendly with your local bottle shops I'm sure they will keep everyone informed via social media and even if you call to ask nicely. Most I have seen/heard one spot get is 3-4 cases so expect it to be gone before you know it. Just have to time it right and be lucky to catch it.

 

fyi - Don't bother with TW norfolk today, they received some this morning and sold out a few minutes after 11am.

It seems like the volume varies per place, because here in nova it didn't sell out for hours at a few total wines and other shops. I managed to get 5 between myself and a friend

 

I've been reading so much about Sunday Morning Stout being a KBS substitute, anyone know if it hits the area?

 

Used to be able to score a couple 'o four paks, it's not even worth the worry anymore. S'okay, I saved my money so's I can go back to Belgium this summer!

 

a shop in the fan (RVA) got a couple cases and put them on the shelf, no limits... most places here seem to have had 1 4pk limits

 

I hit TW Robious yesterday circa 4:30 and there was a case left. Limit was one 4 pack per person. No lines, no drama, no wait. Almost felt anticlimactic to simply make my purchase and be along my way.

 

You lucky RVA'ers, two of the TW's in Tidewater closest to me sold out in under an hour, (1pp limit too) and pretty early after opening. If you work a day job you are SOL.
It's really no big deal though, I kind of expected this, if you want it bad enough thats why we have a FT:ISO forum.
