So bringing this back from the dead, these just hit NC. Anyone think the taste is a bit off? Bottle date was just a couple of weeks ago..

As a business student I always look like to apply craft beer trends to business theories.

I'm guessing 32oz bottles are more expensive than 22oz (just a hunch) per oz. And I really dont see 32oz bottles selling better than a 6 pack at the same price per oz.

The only reasons I see them doing this are:
    1. They dont have the capability to brew large volumes of Sucks, so they want to be able to offer sucks to the customers who really love Sucks and will buy it 32oz bottles, rather than only be able to manufacture a limited amount of 6 packs.

    2. They're releasing this format to gauge popularity and get feedback on whether this is a profitable alternative product offering for them.

    3. They think its really fucking funny to sell DIPA's in a 32oz bottle that will come in a brown paper bag.

    The answer is number 3.

The Owner/President of Lagunitas, Tony Magee, used to post on BA. He stated that he thought it would be 'cool' to put sucks in quart bottles; the same format as Malt Liquor beers. I have no idea why he thought this was a 'cool' idea.

    Cheers!

It would be cool if its sold for cheap (<$5-$6 range) like we can get the 6 pack of Sucks for <$10. Not cool if its $9-10 a quart bottle or more.

It took me a long time to see quarts of Sucks here in CA. I never did find a quart when I was back in PA. But now it is readily available here in Oxnard/Port Hueneme/Camarillo, CA. Such a solid DIPA for the money.

Seems like a Tony thing to do. Why knock it. If it gets people to buy it and share with others, nothing wrong with that. If I want to have a couple of pints, this works just fine for me. Most of the large format bottles are very well priced, under 5 bucks.

So, what? Are we supposed to drink it in one sitting? Because by cup 4 I'd be a little too drunk to truly appreciate it. For sharing its great but I find its harder to get my friends to share a DIPA since I only have one really craft loving friend and the rest like craft but not the hardcore stuff. Not saying Sucks is hardcore, I don't think you have to even like IPAs to like Sucks, its awesome on so many levels. Just getting them to try would be too much trouble.

Six packs are so much less pressure to consume it immediately. But, you still can.

Agreed. I'm tired of these high abv beers in bombers too. Why is it the high abv beers that are in large formats and the ordinary beers and session beers are in 12oz bottles? I really don't want a a high abv beer in anything larger than a 16oz can. Fortunately, my wife is an IPA lover, so with IPAs and DIPAs I can share them easily.

Note: I bought a 32 oz Sucks yesterday anyway. But I wished it was a six pack.

This stuff was on Long Island 6 or 7 months ago, but if I recall when it hit the shelves it was 3 months old already. This stuff falls off fast when it does, needs to be relatively fresh. Because of the old bottles the much anticipated 32 ounce release was incredibly anti-climatic. What is bottled on date of the bottles you are seeing now?

32 ouncers are all over the bay area, unfortunately, I haven't seen anything fresher than Jan/Feb. Sad. There are some folks that enjoy drinking the cloying monstrosity that is old Sucks. I'm not one of them so I'll be SOL until the 6ers come back in the winter.

These quart bottles just have made it to Atlanta. Haven't seen them in person though so I can't comment on the freshness

If I open a 32oz sucks, a bomber, a 21 oz bottle or can, I go in with my mindset that I'm going to drink the whole thing. Maybe that's just me. Let's not make this complicated fellas.
