Change glasses with each beer, use the same glass but wash it out everytime, or just keep it rolling with the same glass?

I'm drinking Lagunitas Sucks and am far too comfy to wash out my glass, so #3 with the same unwashed glass. No big deal, right?

Why bother washing out the glass? I even tell bartenders to just use the same glass on every one of my beers. Unless you are reviewing the beer, just enjoy it.

I throw out the plastic cup and use a fresh one with each beer.

99% I keep it rolling, but every once in a rare while (usually with big stouts) I rinse it quickly because the glass is starting to look dirty.

Why bother washing out the glass if it's the same beer? I can't figure out a reason (though I'm open to hearing a good reason if there is one).

I do tend to wash and dry my glass between different beers however

My dad basically put this habit of not washing out my glass in my head because he almost never does. I do still remember him telling me some years ago that he only washes it out after he drinks a Bell's Double Cream Stout, which is the only stout he ever drinks.

Definitely rinse it if the type of brew changes. Why risk possibly making the next brew taste a little off. If its the exact same beer, then no worries, pour away!

I usually rinse, but I have been known not to give two fucks after a couple of beers.

I'm drinking a Bigfoot right now, and I think I'm going to follow it up with an Arcadia Loch Down. And you know what, I'm not going to wash out my glass.

    Cheers!

I like to pour a Barleywine after drinking a stout without washing the glass. It's like drinking King Henry every time.

Same beer, no reason to as long as you have finished the glass.

Different beer, I'll rinse or switch to a different glass if the style makes sense/I'm planning to wash glasses the next day.

Sometime if there is lacing stuck to the inside of the glass and there is a period of time from the last sip to the next beer, I will rinse it out.

Aah yes, everything is better when you're in 'the zone'- just make sure you don't overshoot the mark.

I rarely rinse if back to back same beers but I hardly ever drink the same beer in a row I might drink 3 of the same beer in a night but I always throw different beers in the mix. That being said I have been known to use a 26 oz snifter and pour two of the same at once.

You have a really low standard on what it takes to reach KH status.

Also, Same beer = no rinse, different beers = always rinse.

I thought you were being facetious until your last sentence- are you kidding? Has a bartender ever laughed at you? We are required to give you a new glass and are not allowed to pour from the faucet into a used glass.

This. Because if I'm drinking a bomber I'm either topping off the original glass and pouring a second one. I'm not rinsing the glass for that. But if I go to another beer I am always rinsing the glass.

Unless I am drinking more than one of the same, I rinse out my glass or get a new one. I don't want the residue from my IPA mixing with my English porter.
