I'll be in Boston for a few nights this weekend and will have a bit of time to visit a couple bottle shops. Since I'm coming from a distant land (Memphis, TN), I wanted a few suggestions of recommendations for beers to buy — be it locally-brewed stuff or something from breweries that don't distribute to the southern states.

    TIA for any recommendations. Cheers.

Do you favor any particular style(s) over others? That can help with recommending which ones to check out, seeing as the list above is overly plentiful of excellent breweries you don't get in TN.

I visited Boston recently and really enjoyed Jack's Abbey stuff. Good prices, interesting beers. Also agree that the CBC pub is worth a visit...in addition to their regular lineup, there was 4-5 seasonal/special project types of things on tap. I had a sherry barrel aged 100% Brett rye ale that was delicious, and they had a DIPA and a couple of other interesting options.

TN doesn't get a lot of sours, so those would top my wish list. After that, my next preference would be Belgian-style ales (saisons, strong blondes, etc.).
