So I picked several 4-packs of Heady at the brewery a little over 3 weeks ago, and have been gradually drinking them since. I opened the first one the day after I got home (two days after purchase), which was as fresh a can of Heady as I've ever had, and it actually tasted different than it ever had to me before. It was incredibly grassy, almost overwhelmingly so, and that masked the other incredible flavors that make Heady fantastic.

Fast-forward a week or so, and I opened several cans that were flat out amazing, and just about as good as any Heady I've had. The grassiness had really mellowed out, leaving me with the awesome citrus flavor and drinkability that I love about that beer. That amazing period lasted for a couple of weeks. Then just yesterday, I opened a can and it seemed to have lost a little something. The sharpness of the flavors had started to dull a little bit, and the malt backbone came through more. Still fantastic, but merely "great beer," not "best beer ever" as it sometimes is.

So anyway, this leads me to believe that the best time to drink Heady is 1-3 weeks after canning. In that span, it's pretty much a perfect beer. Thoughts?

I like them best at the beginning. They are still great a few months later, but you should see what you like.

I ma just into fresh beers right now.
