To each their own, but I couldn't disagree more on this one.

I recently tried Zip Line BA Double Chocolate Stout and the non-BA version. Though I appreciate most BA Stouts, in this instance I prefer the the flavor of the non-BA version, and it is much cheaper.

Jameson makes a whiskey called Caskmates that was aged in barrels that held whiskey then a stout, and back to whiskey.

I agree with the price difference.
    But the actual flavor?
BA definitely taste better. Had quite a few BA bottles of '13 & '14.
Never got '15 since I couldn't get the BA bourbon version.

Old rasputin is worth drinking once a week, but BA for special occasions.

Any comments about behemoth? I drank the regular version recently and didn't care for it. BA version better?

Serpent's Stout must be world class then, because Track 10 was in my opinion one of the top BBA beers I've ever tried. Pretty much perfect. Traded for every bottle I could get my hands on.

Yes, Serpent's is world class as scored by The Bros. Track 10 was scored world class by BA ratings.

I always liked Unearthly more than Oak Aged Unearthly.

Another vote for Bigfoot--BA version is a mess.

Imperial Stout Trooper is so much tastier than BA IST.

This was definitely true for me when tasting Anejo. I thought charred was better than the original though.

Just tried (regular) Bomb for the first time, and it was totally unique and amazing!

Disagree 100% on BASS. That beer is awesome and BAVSS is one of the truly best coffee stouts there is.

My vote goes to every single IPA that was barrel aged. Not one I've tried was improved with the barrel.

    BA Arrogant Bastard.

The bourbon just kills the hops to me. Takes a great beer and weakens it.

I TOTally agree. Perfect example. Somehow the barrel aging emasculated many of the great characteristics of regular Bomb!

So this is one of my favorite beers, and it makes me kind of sad that some people don't like it (although thats more for me)... however, it's worth mentioning that Dirty Bastard isn't the base beer for BB. That's my understanding anyway, someone can correct me and kick me in the shin if I'm wrong.

I know this just goes for me, but I prefer all beers non-BA. I'm not a fan of most BA (there are a few I enjoy) beers because I'm not too crazy about whiskey/bourbon, etc. The only barrels I think I really like are plain oak, sherry, port, and sometimes wine. However I haven't had non-BA versions of those beers - though I can see myself probably enjoying something like a sherry aged JW Lees more than non.
