Assume it was brewed with Belgian yeasts and not hope for a more educated description?

I usually ask them about St. Bernardus Apt. 12, my favorite Belgium.

Being in this business and soon to be a sales rep, I've really got to learn to 'correct' more...I go along with the inaccurate things my customers say far too much and instead of explaining beers, like you know - the label would if they read it, I choose to explain to them what the beer is actually like and what its similar too...which 50 percent of time leads them to say "So like, Corona is a pretty good beer, right? I see it everywhere, its so popular"

I was going to call those ignorant assholes out, but I was in Brussels at the time so I thought I would cut them some slack.

somehow, the use of 'belgium' instead of 'belgian' (particularly in sentences like, "the only beers i drink are belgiums,") went from really irritating to strangely charming for me. it's so irritating and stupid yet so benign that i actually love it.

Exactly. People that are interested in craft beer want to learn the correct terminology and a polite correction will work wonderfully 95% of the time. There are some out there who think they're "above" any more beer knowledge. Real beer advocacy is not just about making someone like craft beer, it's about spreading real knowledge about craft beer.

...if that doesn't sound right though, I just finished a 750 of Funky E Star to myself....

not really give a shit about the terminology but really hope they don't say Stella Artois and cut the head of their beer off with a knife.

As long as they are drinking a Belgian Craft vs. some piss water. Let it slide.

    Cheers!
