When Was Sierra Nevada Torpedo First Released?

I don’t think it was bottled until 2009, draft only before that.

 

I drank plenty of it on draft in 2006.

 

@Aphexwulf I think the earliest I recall seeing it in Davis was 2005, but it could've easily been out in Chico before then.

 

I remember seeing it first bottled in ‘09 myself.
‘06 is probably accurate.

 

FWIW, I first remember hearing about it was after I was on BA, which was late '07. I also remember it being a big deal in about '09-'10. The big point from SNs marketing arm made a huge deal about the actual, physical "Torpedo" that they used to hop the beer.

So many shrugs.

 

I was looking through SNs website. Nothing as far as year there. But what did catch my eye , is that they give out the recipe for homebrewing some of their beers including Torpedo. I think that's kinda cool.

For packaged that sounds right. The earlier draught batches were initially labelled Experimental (when I first saw it in Davis). Though that could've been the choice of the establishment and not SN. The next 2 years it had a turquoise labeled tap handle with the name Torpedo. Once packaged, the handles changed color to match the packaged label.

Yeah that could be it i remember there was a regular Torpedo you saw now and again at Tap Houses up here then later Torpedo Extra..in cans and bottles. And 2009 seems to be when they began dry hopping it.

 

2009 was when it was first bottled, but the first draught version were the summer of 2007 (maybe 2006).
