When you open a 750ml strong Abv

Rogue Double Choc Stout 750ml bottle, 8.7%. Nursed it for a couple of hours tonight. NP. Any bigger than that may be a problem

 

It's all me, yesterday I took three hours to drink an 18.9% ABV 750 ml of Pugachev's Cobra, would I do that again with such a high ABV beer, probably not, it was a lot to drink.

 

I drink it all but then again I get bombers regularly so I am accustomed to finishing them, regardless of ABV. On a sidenote, I am a big consumer of both food and beer. That might have something to do with it

 

I'll drink what I want and dump the rest.

 

Popped a bottle of Saison Brett at 8:30 and I am just now finishing it. Some people call it drinking in moderation, I just prefer to call it savoring the flavor and not having a headache in the morning.

Step up your alcohol tolerance, bro. Sharing is overrated.

 

I opened this year's Terra Incognita thinking it was that easy-drinking wild ale, not the wine+whiskey barrel aged strong ale and I wrapped foil over the top of the bottle and finished the rest the next day - it was still great.

 

I always finish a bottle I open...sometimes I might enlist help if I don't like it enough to finish it myself, but I don't have a problem finishing a bomber or a 750.

 

Im on the other end of this conundrum. My wife and I are big fans good beer, though our palates are different she will tolerate whatever I buy and if it turns out its something she likes or if her likes change, which happens, I end up sharing more than I intended.

I wholeheartedly intend on drinking a whole bottle but if I don't get two its likely i'll only see half, or less. I used to make the mistake of buying two and opening them both at the same time, of course she would never like our choice for the evening back then..

Though I do recall way back when I first started trying beers a bomber of HOP ROD RYE put me down for the night.

I drink the whole thing. But I'm also an alcoholic. No shame in my game.

 

I am in the same position as the OP; I have friends who like craft beer but no close friend who tends to like the high ABV stuff.

I simple wait until the time is right and open a bomber only when I know that I can finish it the same sitting.

For example, I just had a Lagunitas Impy Stout (9.9%) tonight.

 

I toss it into the funnel and take it straight to the dome.
