It's May, where are they? This is one of my favorite styles and it's a little disappointing to have andygator be the only one I can find in New York... Suggestions anyone? I know trader joes has some pretty good helles bocks but I'd like some more options....
Smuttynose Maibock should be out. Also, I know Iron Hill does them, but you'd have to go to New Jersey.
Tröegs Cultivator should still be around. I picked up a 6-pack in Central NJ today. Hofbräu is quite good, and seems to be pretty widely available. I've heard that Hacker-Pschorr Hubertus Bock is available in some places in NY, though I haven't seen it in NJ.
I hear you, been a weak year so far for mai/hellerbocks. I did get to have a couple HP Maibocks and it's great
Ayinger Maibock will soon be on tap at TJs Everyday (it is in the pipeline) but since TJs is in PA that is not helpful to the OP. I had Sly Fox Maibock from cask (gravity poured firkin) yesterday at the annual Bock Fest/Goat Race event. Hopefully @TongoRad will chime into this thread with New York input. Cheers!
While the details about the Ayinger Maibock might not be useful for the OP, it certainly is useful for me.
Just tried Jack's Abby - Maibock Hurts Like Helles, and it was pretty tasty. Should be easy enough to find in NY.
I don't know where in NY @Hopdaemon39 is located, but the Ayinger is slated to be tapped this week as well at Cable Beverages in Rockland County, NY. I don't think we'll be seeing the Sly Fox, though- damn you Philly people, hogging all the good stuff!!! Most of the other good ones have been mentioned- Cultivator and Hacker-Pschorr for sure. As to others, Hofbrau is still available and drinking very well still, and Einbecker is available year-round (though freshness could be an issue because of that fact.)
Narragansett Bock. Tasty and only ~$10 for a sixer of 16oz. cans. Pretty easy to find on Long Island.
Man if only that were the case! I love jacks abby but they don't distribute to NYC... Which answers the question of where I am!
