I'm currently sitting at Town Hall Tap sipping their hefeweizen, and thought it would be nice to have a thread going this summer to track who's tapping all those seasonally appropriate lighter style beers who's greatness is usually ignored in the monthly On Tap in the Twin Cities threads.

There's gonna be some nice, lighter bodied "shelf beers" out this summer from local breweries. Top of my list is the new Keller Pils from Summit. There's also a new Helles lager from August Schell (available only in the sampler pack):

These are good options for geezers like me who enjoy adding a little variety to the rotation without breaking the bank on all of the whales of the retail world, or hauling ass all over town for limited availability tap placements.

Lucky's 13 in Mendota had Summit Summer on tap last week. Tasted good on their deck.

Those are a couple beers I can get behind. But somehow I think Schells should of done the keller and Summit do the helles.

Waiting to see the Sierra Nevada summer sampler so I can get their Kolsch. Good shit.

No Kolsch in the summer pack this year. Session IPA, Nooner, Hoppy Lager and Pale Ale.

What else is in the Schell's sampler pack with that Helles lager?

On tap at Fair State right now we have:
    • Cromulence
    • Lacto 12
    • Helles (collab w/ the good guys over at Bauhaus)
    • Session IPA
    • Hefe
So yeah, lots of pale low ABV beers. Summer is good.

This is why I have Fair State rated so high. They nail it on a wide variety of styles...

Speaking of Town Halls Hefe, I picked up a growler of that and V-something IPA for a total of $19 ($1 discount for having the dual growler cardboard holder). I have no idea if that's a Sunday sale price, but it's one hell of deal on some great beer. Loved the hefe last night!

That's our everyday price. Vernal Vine is the name of the IPA.

So 64oz growlers are only $10?

Something isn't adding up here. I got a growler fill of Vernal Vine yesterday and paid $14. That means the Hefe growler Sipit purchased was only $6? That can't be right.

Did you have to pay for the glass, or was it a refill? Both of mine were refills.

    It was a refill.

I just double checked my receipt and realized I was looking at the price with glass deposit. $4 was taken off the bill, thus I only paid $10 for the refill. I should probably learn to read better.
