If you can't get anything from your local liquor store, I recommend Spirited Shipper. Just make sure to tape over or put a sticker over their logo to avoid suspicion.

Typically, the staples near me has nice discounts if you purchase 5 or more boxes. Other than that, I will reuse boxes that I have received as long as they are in good condition.

I get mine from work. I save all the quality packing material and good sturdy boxes we get in. I try and double box every package I send out, often with a layer of bubble wrap between boxes.

If you are buying boxes, aside from using a quality styro-shipper, do the following:

    1. Say you are shipping 4-6 bombers, best thing to do is to buy a 12x12x12 box and a 14x14x14 box. Line the inside bottom and sides of the 12" box with bubble wrap. Tape bottle caps and wrap each bottle with 2 wraps of bubble wrap (small bubbles). Stack bottles in vertically into the box. Fill in the voids with packing peanuts and bubble wrap. Some people like to throw in a box of mac-n-cheese to mask sloshing, but this isn't necessary. Take your 14" box build it up, take a large trash bag and fit it into the 14" box like you would in a trash can. Take bubble wrap (bigger bubbles) and wrap it around all sides of the 12" box until it is just shy of 14" square. Drop the bubble-wrapped box inside of the 14" box, squeeze all of the air out of the trash bag and tie a tight knot and tape it. Seal up the 14" box and tape well. Instead of putting an orientation arrow or anything on the side of the package, simply write the name and address of who you are shipping it to so that when you read it, the bottles are standing up. Bottles laying down slosh way more than one standing up.

    2. Do the same thing as above without the second box, but use a double walled heavy duty box. Just line the box with a bag before putting anything into it.

I save any packing materials from stuff I order online or stuff we get at work. Also, always save and reuse any packing materials from trades I receive. I try to rubber band the bubble wrap on bottles so the recipient can reuse it. Kind of annoying when people tape the shit out of their bubble wrap and I have to destroy it to open it. RECYCLE PEOPLE.

when I first started trading I bought mine at home depot. Then I started to recycle other boxes as long as they werent in too bad of a shape.

Do you know any hardcore wine drinkers?? I work with two wine junkies who have shipments sent to their houses at least a couple times a month. They bring all their boxes in and give them to me when they get them emptied...they are always nice styro shippers too...but of course this is just enabling my addiction :flushed:

Fed ex, ups, Lowes, they also have xtra heavy duty boxes. Staples, damn near everywhere. A good box is your first defense.

My work receives boxes of cold food, which means nice big boxes with a perfect two inch styrofoam wall covering every inside surface, top and bottom included. That plus decent packing is indestructable.

I feel like an ass now, I came to this thread to ask if everyone else saves and re-uses all their packing materials, as I have about 8 boxes full of stuff to pack with, and realized that I tape the hell out of all my bottles, and I can never undo them myself if needed.

I guess I'm a "donkey" as well. I don't tape the hell out of my bottles, but I definitely use tape over rubber bands. Bottom line: every trader is my customer, and I want to make sure everything gets there that was agreed upon in one piece. I've never had any bad feedback from packing too good

I can't say for sure, but I think my boxes spawn in the cellar when I'm not looking.

In theory I send out a box, I get a box in, and it should be a wash. Somehow I've wound up with a cellar full of boxes.......I think they're procreating man...

I even use box in a box more than I receive and that still happens Vic.

my wife swears i'm actually the local fedex hub. she refers to the basement as "shipping and receiving".

i throw out any boxes that:

    a) aren't styro or pulp shippers
    b) i can't use for box in a box shipping

and still...it's like frickin' gremlins down there.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. I literally have about 10 empties and all packaging materials to go with them, and I always re-use boxes I receive in trade.
