Give me the original hi-res and puff and I'll stock my fridge with them along some crisp and sweet action

Basically non existent. “Anti-Resin”? Just stop.
The switch to making hazy upon hazy ipas aside, Shane was passionate about traditional German styles and they reflected it. That’s clearly an afterthought now.

I haven't bought a Sixpoint product in.... well years. They used to be high on my list, but between the sale, their direction in offerings, and other options all added up to other purchases.

Exactly. And to quote Paulie from Goodfellas:

I was recently talking to my local retailer about Sixpoint. I mentioned how much I enjoyed the Bean Series and had not seen it in ages. Why would they stop making such a good beer? Then the following week I found a new one called "Master Blend". Imperial Stout aged in BB. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Complex, but not too boozy at 13%. Good luck finding it.

Simply lapped several times by better beer. I think Other Half took a bite out of their base also.

That certainly makes sense for the local (e.g., Brooklyn) crowd but since Sixpoint was/is a widely distributed beer the aspect of Other Half is just a small part of the reason for diminished sales/enthusiasm.

    Cheers!

Yeah. I recently had Stone IPA again, and man, was I disappointed. What a boring, malty mess. I remember that being a golden crisp IPA with an intense citrus peel bitterness five years ago. What happened? Yikes!

Indeed. I credit Sixpoint's downfall with Shane leaving. He was such a cool dude with an immaculate knowledge about beer. Ever since he left Sixpoint went to shit. Sixpoint died with Shane. Even Resin isn't good anymore.

The name is the gimmicky thing about the smoothie beer?

All smoothie beers are gimmicky. No qualifiers are needed.

Hey Everyone, Eric Bachli here - someone sent along this thread and figured I would address some of the comments. I left Sixpoint in 2019. It was an honor to work alongside one of my mentors in the industry, Shane Welch - Resin was one of those beers that really inspired me early in my craft brewing years and as a home brewer. Shane was a huge proponent of my career before the Trillium days when I met him working at a craft beer retail shop in Belmont, MA in 2012 and the opportunity for me to make beer with him was really a dream come true on a lot of levels. It's not just Shane, but the team that drew me in. Proud of my time there, the collaborations and the beers we brewed within NYC and on a larger distribution scale - including Dabble, Meltdown, the Jammers, Master Blend etc. More importantly we really created an awesome community with a lot of folks from Beer Advocate and beyond - always inviting them in and hosting dinners back in the day. I always believed in the community element of craft beer, the social engagement and cultural aspects of it - those elements have been a draw for me ever since I began making beer and I have a deep respect for the history and evolution of beer and the way its progressed in the US. I'm grateful I've been able to work with so many talented brewers at Jack's Abby, Craft Brew Alliance, Trillium, Sixpoint, and through all the collaborations with other breweries over the years - more importantly the friends I've made have been countless. As for my personal journey, I took some time after I left Sixpoint in 2019 to move up into the Hudson Valley with my family, built a small farm, did some distilling and now have a new project in the works...
    Cheers!
    Eric

Progress, evolution, feeling financially secure is big.

Years ago, Sixpoint lost some of their best ppl to Barrier. Good brewing continues, pollen on the wind. Back then, you'd always find one of them in the local Brooklyn bars on a weekday. The gate, diamond, harry, even in crummy Queens, years before Kickshaw or Sunswick, I'd see them once in a while. This was 10-15+ years ago, when Queens was shit & I was proud of adding one store/bar to the database every few months if I was lucky. Their local rep was a curmudgeon back then. Shane & crew picked up the slack & my middle of the week barfly ass would be handed a beer almost every time I saw them.

As they started getting bigger, lots of us thought not having that brewpub space was a downer. They had that 2nd floor deck & people were craving it. Still, their customer service was always top notch & can't fault anyone for becoming financially secure in this age of uncertainty. Victory is still considered by some to be good beer. Diabetes runs in my family, so I stay away from Southern Tier, but it's better than selling out to Bud. Had some of the jammer cans last summer. Meh, refreshing, but I couldn't tell what I was drinking after a few.

    Cheers.

Really enjoyed just about every offering I had tried from them between 2014 and 2019, some of my favorites being the Beans series, reg and ddh Hi-Res, BA Righteous, and Tesla.

Met a fellow beer enthusiast at a bottle share several years back. After chatting for a bit, I learned that he was none other than Shane from Sixpoint. Solid dude for sure- even insisted on buying me a pint!

In recent years, I've noticed that their distribution here has gotten pretty sparse. The last thing I had from them was Hootie, which was unremarkable. Sad to see such a once-thriving brewery go down this road..

Master Blend is/was a great beer and has been my only recent purchase. Very well executed and not too boozy for a 13% BBA Stout. Other than this beer they've fallen off my consumer radar.

Back in the day 6+ years ago they were definitely a quarterly pick up between Resin and Hi-Res.

Rehashing this thread as I couldn't find a better home for the topic. In my finest Seinfeld voice, what's the deal with Sixpoint bottle dates. They use to have a hole cut out so you could see the bottom of a can which had all the info needed, canned and best by dates. Now the hole is gone and I don't know where to look for the dates especially for the mixed 15 packs. Anyone know where to find the dates on their current packaging?

I’m pretty sure last time I checked, the date was stamped on the box for the 15 packs. I wanna say it was just a best by date though.

Noticed their section in the store yesterday. Two or three new offerings that I have not seen before. Passed them all up, can't say why, just a gut feeling I guess.
