Um. distribution area is not a concern for a beer fest. It's a marketing event.

I'd say most important factor: needs to have enough hotels within walking distance or train access of the event

I'd say San Diego... but we have regular beer fests here, so share the wealth elsewhere.

Next logical spot would be the Bay Area. Good demographic mix, lots of afficionados, lots of breweries to highlight.

Would either Asheville or Grand Rapids have 1000-5000 hotel rooms? Would their restaurants be able to handle that many for 1-7 meals? Are there enough fights into/out of the airport? Is there a facility that could handle it? I live in a city the same size as Asheville, and we don't have an indoor facility that could take an event that size. Any serious discussion of where to put a big event starts with these questions.

No, Asheville doesn't. Charlotte does - couple hours from Asheville.

I see that Charlotte only has one light rail line. Are most hotels along that line?

Population: 600K vs 2.6 Million. The rate is still in favor of Denver, but those number a meaningless. Just sayin'.

ive been in chicago for 11 years and not a single problem. the people that moan about the murders probably have never been here and also know nothing of the city where they are more or less isolated to the south west side and the gang territories. not even close to where an even like this would take place. could be pure ignorance on their part but hopefully just some friendly ball busting going on here. if its serious than i suggest the poster does some research or visits for themselves.

Chicago would be a good choice...

...but I say St Louis, it is the gateway to the west on the mighty Mississippi, centrally located and has a major airport, a metro link train/sub/tram that connects the airport to all the cool places in town, several great breweries and a ton of sweet venues to choose from...oh yes, it's two hours north of my house :stuck_out_tongue:

    Vegas would be sweet also?

Yes. If the event is downtown Charlotte - most everything would be is a simple walk.

Don't get me wrong about my earlier comment - I know we're no Chicago - but I think our size is an advantage in this case, and a lot of others, actually.
